Title: Conversion 39? Post by: Jim on March 03, 2006, 10:20:29 pm I've been waiting for one of these to pop up in decent shape...
I'm going to contact the seller and ask permission for use here at SMC. Selectivend also made a conversion for the V-83 which is pictured in the Soda Machines Section under Selectivend. Title: Conversion 39? Post by: dr galaga on March 03, 2006, 10:25:56 pm I saw this a little earlier. I kind of like it.
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: KreKol on March 04, 2006, 12:40:50 am I checked the calculate shipping costs and it says it will cost me $27.12 to ship the macine to me via US Postal Service. I wonder if I could get away with that?
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: davethebirdman on March 04, 2006, 03:11:19 am Hi Was this an after market conversion kit by the cmpany or something that an Individual did at some time in the past???
Whilst it doesn't look very pretty I suppose it served a very good purpose. Dave Title: Conversion 39? Post by: dr galaga on March 04, 2006, 07:46:53 am Yea, this thing is a conversion:
That's why there is a Vendo tag (origianl manufacturer) And a Selectivend tag Title: Conversion 39? Post by: bubba on March 04, 2006, 08:33:26 am Wow... Jim, that 83 is pretty cool. I was toying with dumping my 83, but that could be a neat project. Do you have any info on the machine other than the pic in the machine section??...
That machine would look better if they rounded the corners of the front panel to match the contour of the cabinet... Title: Conversion 39? Post by: globalcompressors on March 05, 2006, 06:11:26 pm Rounding the corners would have been more appealing. Still, pretty cool.
Eric Title: Conversion 39? Post by: sodaworks on March 05, 2006, 06:55:34 pm I agree with rounding the corners. it would really improve the looks.
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: Creighton on March 05, 2006, 07:22:45 pm Ditto, If that conversion was done saving the embossing and the bottle door flush it would be a great machine. Another one to add to the long list of fun to-do's :-)
Creighton Title: Conversion 39? Post by: BrianB on March 06, 2006, 06:45:00 am Definitely interesting looking that's for sure. Another fine Hooiser machine!
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: bubba on March 06, 2006, 07:03:53 am I was considering getting rid of my 83, but I'd consider hacking into it and trying to do a conversion... that may be fun... Does anyone have any inside pics of one of these types of conversions?
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: Jim on March 06, 2006, 06:52:09 pm I have received the photos from the seller of the Selectivend C-39 (V-39 Conversion) and will hopefully get them up this week...
I'm not sure if I have a photo of the C-83 inside but it's similar to the C-39... Title: Conversion 39? Post by: bubba on March 06, 2006, 07:32:44 pm cool...
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: bcharlton on March 07, 2006, 11:37:36 pm I'm sorry but it would be another entry into ugliest machine of the week. I get some critisized for going a little overboard with my restorations but this is over the top. Count me out in the "don't you think it's cool" department.
BrianC Title: Conversion 39? Post by: sodaworks on March 08, 2006, 01:30:34 pm I would have to agree with you on that, but it is still interesting that the bottlers came up with a way to convert single vend machines to multivends.
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: Kilroy on March 09, 2006, 05:50:13 pm I cry everytime I see a 39 turned into a stereo cabinet, or gun rack, or sob... a psuedo-squaretop wannabe
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: bubba on March 09, 2006, 07:58:38 pm
Exactly!... Title: Conversion 39? Post by: rogerz on March 09, 2006, 11:20:15 pm If the choice was convert them or squish them...
rz Title: Conversion 39? Post by: MoonDawg on March 10, 2006, 11:20:12 am Any information about this conversion company? Were they working for Vendo or buying machines for resale? This is the early model 39, production started in 1949. If the conversion was done after the mid-50's, it seems they would have enough foresight to also convert it to the upcomming electric coin mechanism.
Title: Conversion 39? Post by: Jim on March 10, 2006, 11:35:37 am Glen,
I see your point, but also remember that Vendo had the V-44 and V-23 in their cooler line into the early 60's and these machines were still mechanical... I don't have any documentation regarding Selectivend's conversion models and when they were specifically produced. I would bet they saw an opportunity to buy complete machines at very affordable prices, tool the conversion for minimal costs and have a machine on site generating revenue for next to nothing compared to manufacturing their own model. Title: Conversion 39? Post by: sodaworks on March 10, 2006, 05:30:33 pm I'm thinking that there might have been a article in "club soda magazine" about these a few years back. I will check it out when I get back to my office at work.
