Title: Best shipper?
Post by: collecture on February 20, 2006, 10:04:14 pm
I don't normally have things shipped unless it is worth it for me, but I have had three machines shipped. One by Eric at Machine Movers and two by NAVL. I have beefs with both of them. The one I had Eric move arrived in the condition I bought it in, but the delivery date kept getting pushed and pushed back. I can't remember how long it took, but it was not a quick delivery.
The two machines I had delivered by NAVL were dropped off within a week; however, they crank down the strap around the coin door of the machine. I cannot prove that it was done by them and I can't tell by the pictures supplied by the seller, but both machines have dents at 45 degree angles from the hinge side of the coin door out. I have tried to bang them out from the inside, but have been afraid to damage the original paint (both machines are nice originals).
I guess the wait is worth it as long as the machine arrives in good shape?
Anybody have beefs or praise?

I normally use Forward Air with no problems.

I used craters and freighters once and they did a great job packaging and getting it ready.  However they used SAIA to ship it and SAIA ran a fork from a forktruck into the side on an Embossed Coca Cola slider.  Like you, I could not prove they were the culprits...but I had insured it for $1000.00 (which I did get and also got to keep the machine since I raised such a ruckus).

Look in your phone book under automobile body shops. There are guys who do nothing but paintless dent removal, some are mobile. I install sunroofs into brand new cars and have had to call them in the past.  They have saved me hundreds $$$$$
