I picked up a machine off Ebay that was made by Champion Manufacturing.  I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these.  It's a slider type with the coin mech. in the vending area.  It's Pepsi blue with large bottle cap decals.  I'll post a picture when I get it cleaned up.

Hmm... Does it run off of sparkplugs?  :D

Hey, that's an idea for all these gutted sliders and cold boxes--Coke machine derby.

A friend thought that Champion made refrigeration coolers/freezers--commercial type.

Lulu - how about a pic now?  Never heard of a champion.  Seeing might help spark <<yes an intentional pun>> some memories.

It would be interesting to see what your machine looks like.

I'll try to get pics posted in the next couple of days.  I'm in the middle of rehabing a rental that I'm going to put up for sale.

I haven't had a chance to do anything with this yet, but thought I'd post a couple of pictures.  The stainless rack and insides are in really nice shape.

Cool... like the integrated coin mech, return and bottle opener.  Does it run?  Looks like you'e going to have a bit of chrome work to do....

Lulu,

Unique machine...
I have never seen/heard of this manufacturer/model before.
Is the coin mech and refrigeration operational...?
Does the sign, "Lift Lid - Select Beverage" illuminate or are the letters just decals...?
The decal on the underside of the lid is in great shape considering it's located in the cooling compartment!
With your permission, I may have to include this manufacturer/model in the Soda Machines Listings...

Jim
Sorry it took so long to get back--too many irons in the fire!

I've attached a couple of photos of the tags on the machine.
The "Lift lid-Select beverage" is painted on.  I haven't had a chance to test the machine.  It has about a 15' cord with a bad spot in the middle.  I did plug it in and it ran, but I unplugged it right away.  The coin mech. doesn't work.  The coin return lever won't go all the way down.  I don't have a key to open it up to see what the problem is.  Should I just drill out the lock or are there replacement keys to be had??
If you'd like to include this in your listing--feel free.

Are you going to stay with the Pepsi blue?

Is there a chance that "Champion" is the name of the local vending company at the time and this machine is some other brand?  Also it says "patent applied for".  Perhaps if they were not a local company thay might have had bigger visions if a patent or two went through.  This may be a unique or very early machine for them or close to the only machine for them?!?!

I have a patent search program that will search the US Patent office database from the beginnning... I'll be out of the office tomorrow, but I'll see if I remember to search for this mfg and any related patents.... may be interesting...

Apparently, there is a problem with the USPTO site... you can also do a search on their site as well, but the program makes it much easier when it is working..

bubba,
Your signature right before this post says, "Running with bottles". Now I know you are refering to the machine, but I had to chuckle, because it sounds like the SMC collector's version of "running with scissors"! LOL! :D

Have you been able to find out anymore on this machine?
