I have a chest type Coke machine, not sure of the model but can check if required.
My problem is I can't seem to get the unit at a proper temperature setting. Either it is too cold and everything freezes up or not cold enough.
is there a solution? I was thinking of maybe wrapping something around the sensor. Of course I don't even know what the sensor is or if there is one!!!
Any suggestions would be great!

My first question would be is this a "dry" chest or a "wet" chest?
A wet type would have a small cooling unit off to the side, or near a corner , a dry type would typically have a larger cooling unit in the middle-back of the chest, or all the way across the middle of the chest....Yes a model number would help, and of course some picture if possible...

Thanks for the quick reply.
My unit is a wet type since the motor is on the side. I am trying to find a model number and have only come up with a model # that I believe is the compressor unit itself?? Model # AM5ZF
Is there another spot I can find the model # that you might know of?
I will try to get a pic tomorrow. My guess is the unit is not that old. ie. 80's

A wet cooler is filled with water and the motor circulates it past the cooling coils. These were were replaced in the 1940's with dry coolers which blow air across the cooling coils with a fan blade.
A wet cooler with no water will certainly freeze up the coils.

See? A picture is worth a thousand words. You have an Ideal 105 I belive. Refrigeration looks similar to the 55.....the coils contact the inner liner.

hmm, it looks like you have an Ideal 55 slider, most likely the coin box and rack was removed.
not the 1980's, they were produced in the late 50's.
I can't help with cooling, but you have a very cool model machine, and welcome..Stick around he gang here will get you running in no time

Mark - I have an Ideal55 slider that looks to have a similar refrigeration system. On mine the thermostat sensor follows the refrigeration lines into the machine. On mine there was a 8" copper pipe welded to the side of the liner. If you can get your head into the compressor area and look up the hole you should be able to see the bottom of the pipe. The thermostat probe needs to go into the pipe to keep it in place and against the liner.
