Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: on February 06, 2006, 03:10:45 pm I have a chance to buy a LaCrosse model LL81-ILL Pepsi machine. It cools but is missing the rails. The machine needs some cleaning, but doesn't have any rust or major dents. I am just looking for something for my basement, but don't want to overpay either. Is $200 reasonable?
Thanks, Mike Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: loman4ec on February 06, 2006, 03:36:52 pm I will take a stab at this. I would say that $200 is a little high. If it were complete it wouldn't be a bad deal but finding parts for the machine will be next to impossible. Although if you are handy with sheetmetal they could probably be made. I would say it is borderlined. If you just want a nice machine for the basement I would look for a nice inexpensive Cavalier 64 of Vendo 56 or 63. I just sold a nice complete 64 for $150 last week so deals can still be found.

Josh's right, hold out for a complete machine. Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: Kilroy on February 06, 2006, 06:50:25 pm Welcome MK,
I agree with Josh and Terry, keep looking. When I finally got my first machine, and friends and family discovered my 'dark secret obsession', I started getting calsl or emails about machines for sale they ran across, at garage sales, antique shops, on the curb side before garbage pickup... </start Kung Fu master voice> Patience, young grasshopper. </end voice over> Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: loman4ec on February 06, 2006, 11:06:23 pm Kilroy, That is true. My grandpa owns a currier company ouside of Indianapolis and he is always calling me with different machines that he has found. I even bought him both of the ID and value books.
Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: sodaworks on February 07, 2006, 12:06:19 am That's the good thing about this hobby. Tell all your family and friends what your looking for and sit back. The machines will come to you.
Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: on February 07, 2006, 09:13:36 am Thanks for the advice. I have told everyone that I have run into over the last couple weeks to keep an eye out for me.
Thanks again. Mike:) Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: BryanH on February 07, 2006, 10:33:20 am Mike - you should also try craigslist for your area and any other "free" online services. Surprising how many people post and read them.
Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: sodaworks on February 07, 2006, 11:13:16 am I also drop a business card everywhere I go. Lots of businesses have bulletin boards for posting cards.
Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: on February 07, 2006, 09:26:11 pm I've been watching Craig'slist and the local free advertising newspapers. I also ran into a sub for the local Pepsi distributor today, he was from St. Louis (35 miles from me.) He stated there was a place in St. Louis that has alot of machines. He didn't remember the name but gave me the location. I'm going to call around that area tomorrow and try to find out the name of the business.
Thanks, Mike Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: MCarter on February 07, 2006, 09:48:30 pm Very Interested Mike.....Let me know
Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: sodaworks on February 08, 2006, 12:31:24 pm Just got a call from a guy who wants a Lacrosse81 restored.
Title: Lacrosse ll81 Post by: on February 14, 2006, 12:03:57 am The name of the place in St. Louis is American Vending. I spoke with a receptionist this morning and they were to give me a call back, but they haven't called back yet....it's 11:00 p.m., I don't think they are calling today.
I just bought a Westinghouse [Pepsi] Model WB66-MA-60, so I don't know if I will contact them right away. I need to go get this machine home and check it out. $150 and working...Was that a reasonable price? I've only been looking for 3-4 weeks, but have been getting antsy the last few days, so I had to buy something! I'm sure I'll be posting for some help/advice. |
