Title: Font identification
Post by: dr galaga on February 03, 2006, 08:05:36 pm
Do any of you know what the font is called in the image below?  It's almost like Arial Rounded, but a little "fuller."

This is so far from being right, but it was the best I could do. I thought I had every font known to man on my computer so I went though every one of them and the closest one I found was a font called "Franklin Gothic Heavy". It looked like this...

Then I did what I could to make it look closer to yours with the limited knowledge I have of photoshop... and came up with this...

The best I can figure is that the font either doesn't exist, or it just doens't exist on my computer! ;)
Sorry I couldn't help more...

Thanks for looking.  Every font known to man, huh? :p
I'm actually working on something from an old photograph.  It's from a sign that was made during the era of the Trash-80 and Commodore 64 so I doubt I will find an exact match since it wasn't made on a computer, but I'd like to find something close.

Oh man I remember the Commodore 64s! Good times!
You know, as popular as the 80s were they may even make an "80s font" someday..
Good luck! What are you working on by the way? Got any good photos? :)

Last night I was looking through some old arcade pictures and saw the sign below.  I was thinking about making one for my gameroom.

You know Glen, it helps if you quote the whole sentence!

Is this wording better?

"I'm glad that I didn't wear the same kind of clothes as some of these people!"  :upside:

Hey, I wore those clothes, but it was the 70's, in some closet I have my platform shoes. I blame society.
But to redeem myself, I think I found a font pretty darn close

The font is called 'Junegull'
linkage here - quarter way down the page

Looks like we are geting closer.

What gets me is that this is a very generic font that I have seen many times before, but not on the computer.  Look in the teacher bulletinboard supply area of an ofice supply store and you'll see the closest thing to this font (of course they don't ever give a name of it)!

I mean I found the font you suggested.  Had to go to a few different places to get it (I came across some bad Italian translations for the file is not here).

Yea, I'm going to try to have one made.  I think it has a cool retro look to it, so I want one for myself! :blues:
