Title: Westinghouse wb60 selectomatic $450
Post by: BryanH on February 03, 2006, 10:04:51 am
I have a line on the small six selection selectomatic for $450. Seller says it's operating and in good shape.  It is local so I can go look to confirm.

$450 seems pretty high. Anyone bought one lately? Is it listed in the book?

The description in sodea machines section says it hold 6oz bottles.  Anyone know whether or not it'll hold 12oz bottles?

Thanks in advance.

I had one and I for the life of me can't remember what size it vended. I'm guessing it would vend at least a 10 ounce because of it's time of production. Someone else might know. As for as it being worth $450, well that's a tough one. You couldn't be sure you'd get your money back tomorrow but in a year or two you sure could. So if you like it go for it, especialy if it vends 12 ouncers! About the time you hedge on these marginal ones someone else jumps on them because it was so clean!

Just checked Jim's Machine section and it vends 10 oz bottles.

BryanH,
I've only seen a few of these in the past that were all beat up. This one appears to be in good shape. Not sure of it's value but it will only go up. If your looking for a selector machine and everything checks out to be good I would buy it. :)

They only vend 6 oz bottles. 10 of each flavor in 6 stacks.

Ok thanks - I like the selecto's but the 6oz size is too much of a pain for me.  I'm going to pass.

What I think that means is if you used the 6 oz. bottles it will hold 66.  I had a Westinghouse WC-102MD and there was an adjustment in the back of each stack that could slide forward for small bottles and backwards for larger bottles.  I am pretty sure that it will vend 12 ounce bottles.

No problem - sometimes the specs aren't necessarily the only option.  Like the Cav USS's: if I remember they spec 10oz (most likely 'cause that's what was around then) but they can handle 12 oz long necks.

Terry - I'm going to pass.  I like the machine style but can't be bothered with the 6oz bottles.  I want something a little more versatile and I've still got 4 machines as it is... running out of room.

I thought you guys might ask... the cooling system from my Ideal55 and the bags have the coils in them.  They were all covered in that sticky black goo that seemed to be so popular.  You can't see the coils once the machine is reassembled and I thought the goo might help keep the coils stuck to the liner once it was reassembled.  So rather than clean them I just covered them with garbage bags to keep the goo off of me.

I got a call this morning on a local coke machine for sale. Went to check it out. It was a westinghouse selectomatic. The guy wants 150.00 bucks. It appears to be complete and in pretty good shape. He lost the key so I couldn't see inside of the machine. If he cannot find the key I will drill out the lock to check out the innards. The sign is also embossed.  :D

I would go for it as well. They are great little machines. if for nothing else you could put it in your shop vending cans. The selector is the coolest thing on any soda machine.

At $150 I'm sure Terry didn't leave it there. I thought this was a light-up machine only?

I haven't bought it yet. The guy wanted to try and locate the key so that we could see the innards, plus with my sore back I'll have to go back in a week or two.  I'll return with spare keys and a drill to open it up. Glen, I too thought that these normally had light up signs. This sign is embossed. :)

If it is locked just drill out the lock. You can buy replacements from the sodajerkworks. They are linked on this site.

Get the number off the face of the lock. A lot of suppliers offer keys for some of the numbers. I have had luck just posting the number here at SMC in the Want Ads. If there is no number on it, you are probably going to have to drill it or pick it.

Bryan - sorry it took so long.  These are the bottle adjustment instructions on the Westinghouse WB-60 Select-O-Matic.  The full model number on mine is WB60-K6-D:

Did you pass on the machine?

Bob - thanks for clearing this one up.  As far as I know the machine is still available and I'm going to followup.

Wow, I finally found a couple of WB60-K6-D machines! I've been looking for someone else who had one. We posted pics of one we are going to restore in the post 60's machines discussion area. Ours is in very good shape, just needs a deep cleaning and rebuilt compressor deck.

mine would vend cans & up to 12 oz bottles, depending if it had the adjustable column racks in the back or not.  I just picked up a WD60MD & it too has the adjustable depth racks in the back of each coulmn. (mine was set to vend small cokes & 12 oz. R&B rootbeer, and cans all in the same machine)

As I recall, all that need to be done to vend bottles was to remove the can-spacer from the back of the desired coulmns depth-rack.
