Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on February 01, 2006, 04:30:47 pm All,
Halehouse (Dan) was nice enough to alert me to this. I was in contact earlier with the owner before he sent this machine to auction. The auction was in my home town, but I didn't get to go. So, some one bought it and now it's up for sale. I am going to make a run on it. Too bad it's not another VMC 81 7-Up! 7-Up Title: 7-up machine Post by: Kilroy on February 01, 2006, 05:47:24 pm Wayne,

Jerry Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on February 02, 2006, 11:02:05 am I made an offer to the owner and he declined. He preferred I bid for it instead. No big deal. He was a nice guy and hopefully this one will be mine for decent price.

Title: 7-up machine Post by: Creighton on February 06, 2006, 07:17:54 pm Outstanding score!! Please post some pics when you get it. Has cool script lettering missing from my 7-Up VMC.
Thanks! Creighton Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on February 06, 2006, 08:13:54 pm Thanks guys. This one is a keeper. I don't have a bottle machine and could never afford a roundtop bottle machine, so this one is it. I really like that it's a 7-Up. This makes it a little unique. I will rewire it and replace the fans, but I probably won't repaint for a while.

Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on February 08, 2006, 08:35:43 am Thanks again to all. My wife helped a lot on this. We set a timer to coinincide with eBay time. I had my bid ready and only had to hit the "confirm bid" button when she said to. I got in with 8 seconds left. I am going to pick it up on Saturday and will post pictures. I am very excited.
Title: 7-up machine Post by: sodaworks on February 08, 2006, 12:35:58 pm Just wondering if you two were wearing camo's when the sniping took place.

Not that I want to break up a family outing, but.... there is an easier way to snipe. I'll PM you with the details. Title: 7-up machine Post by: halehouse on February 11, 2006, 09:12:12 am Are you picking it up this weekend before the snow "hits" ? People here go nuts over it. Haven't had any since early Dec. and there are runs on milk and bread.
Looking forward to hearing about the new machine. Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on February 11, 2006, 10:53:12 am I actually got it yesterday, as I was thinking the snow was going to mess things up. It's is good shape. Needs a good cleaning, especially the bottle mechanism. But, it'll make a nice little project. I'll post pictures soon.
Title: 7-up machine Post by: halehouse on February 27, 2006, 09:18:16 pm Any pics Wayne?

I tore down the machine over the weekend. It needs some minor work. It cools great. I plan on rewiring and replacing the fans. I have to tear down, clean and lube the bottle stack. I did this to my can stack, so at least I am not going in totally uncharted waters. The belt plate has the typical rust, so I am going to cut a new piece of metal and stick it in there. I will touch up some rust areas inside and clean everything. I don't plan on painting the exterior (at least not now), as I like the graphics, have no extra money (well, permission to use it anyway). Besides, the machine will stay in the garage. I am going to paint all the stuff in the interior. Here are some photos. These were taken at the previous owner's place, but it gives a good idea of the machines condition. Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on March 07, 2006, 08:16:36 am Two more....
Title: 7-up machine Post by: Eric on March 07, 2006, 10:07:27 am Looks like there's a lot of cool stuff out there in the garage! What's beside the 7up (nice machine by the way!) and is that a 39 to the other side?...
Nice score on the 7up that model was my first machine... Wish I still had it Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on March 07, 2006, 11:35:51 am These photos were actually sent to me by Lloyd from Coinopwarehouse. He owned this machine (and the 39 beside it). This has a cool story. My neighbor was looking for a machine (eventually bought a nice one from Josh) and I saw this one on Lloyd's site. I contacted him about it and he wanted $375. I thought that was a little steep and Lloyd said he paid $300 for it and if he didn't sell it, it was going to auction. Well about a month later, this machine and the 39 were being auctioned in my home town. I was planning on going, but my parents were visiting that weekend. Oh well, so I thought. The machine was bought by a guy about 35 miles from me who stuck it on eBay. However, he didn't list it well and I got it for $103. When I picked it up, his partner said he lost money on it, as it cost the guy nearly $200 at the auction.

Title: 7-up machine Post by: 90grad on March 07, 2006, 02:09:12 pm Kito,
You'd have a coronary if you saw the stuff Lloyd kept on the top of the machines in his warehouse. Rest assured, the top of the 7-Up is clear in my garage. Title: 7-up machine Post by: Eric on March 07, 2006, 02:46:33 pm Wow!..good eye Bob! How did I miss those?!?! there looks to be 3!
Sounds like he has too much cool stuff! Nice price on the 7up! |
