Title: Soda machines and finnicky electricity
Post by: Pixel on January 19, 2006, 05:44:41 pm
I thought I'd post this here because it could apply to any electric soda machine.

Around here, we have occasions when the power likes to flicker, on-off-on-off-on-off. This flickering lasts less than 30 seconds most of the time, but it usually ends in the power being off for several hours. It often happens during storms, which makes sense, but sometimes it will flicker like that for no apparent reason.

Is there any reason to worry about this ruining the compressor in a Coke machine?

I have that same problem with the electricity.
I've wondered what havic it was causing my machines and appliances.

Guess that would be a question for eric at global compressors.

If it was running at the time the power flikered, the compressor may trip out on overload due to it short cycling on and off. It would just stay off shortly and may trip on overload again until the refrigerant pressures equalized. Then  again, it may start right back up. Either way it wouldn't really cause any harm unless it happened several times everyday.
