Title: My 81a pix Post by: Ginger Prince on January 05, 2006, 05:36:36 pm Hi Everyone,
Here is pix of my V-81A Please note optional extra attached to top of cabinet. Not sure whether this was original or after market retro fit Also pix of part that was just laying loose in the cabinet. Please can anyone advise what it is for. Hopefully it is not a major safety unit as the machine has been plugged in for hours without it. You will all be pleased to note that I have cut off the plug off the end of the frayed rope masquerading as a power cord too, so everyone in the apartment block have now been able to breathe out en masse. The machine is pretty well bashed about but no real rot. Bit of a mongrel too as the cabinet is white topped with chrome trim down the two sides, but the door is all red with no trim fastener holes either. I believe the A Model was all red originally? The plate denotes it as 1956 made Anyway my original intention was to have the front door resprayed as a white top and sort the cabinet out later, but you know I think that I will keep the old girl as she is, full of character and memories of the last 50 years. After removal of the door liner in the lounge to check for any rot, she has had a quick tidy up and been moved into the hall. The apartment is up for sale next week and I am hoping that the prospective buyers will notice the vendo and not the poor cosmetic condition of the hallway!! More pix will follow next week. Thx for the responses to my bad mr coin mech issue Health and Happiness for you all in 2006 Ginger Prince ps don't forget to name that part for me! creighton I will be my apartment over the weekend and am first going to check if machine is level as advised and see if that sorts out issue if not will add reply post in coin mech thx Title: My 81a pix Post by: Creighton on January 05, 2006, 05:55:44 pm Great looking machine! A little polish and your are done. No need to repaint. The coin deposit is a peel back chrome foil. The board sponsors will have the one you need. No idea what the bracket is for.
Machine must be close to level or that very cool pull toy wouldn't stay put :-) Creighton Title: My 81a pix Post by: sodaworks on January 05, 2006, 09:20:32 pm The part you have is a mounting bracket for the electrical junction box. It mounts to the side of the condenser (lower)fan housing. There's a #8 screw that's about an 1.5" in length that goes through the junction box and fastens onto the bracket. Be sure to mount the ground wire to a large lug connector and slide the mounting screw through it. Hope this helps

Speaking of wax... Is there a preferred wax you all have found better than another for machines, or just any old car wax? I want to hit my 2 machines to hopefully shine them up, but wasn't sure what wax to use... Title: My 81a pix Post by: sodaworks on January 06, 2006, 12:03:10 pm I prefer Maguier's.

Title: My 81a pix Post by: sodaworks on January 10, 2006, 08:17:02 pm Hello Ginger, Here's a couple of photos for you. Note> The bracket will mount towards the front right side of the compressor area. It actually attaches to the side of the condenser radiator unit.
