Post by: dr galaga on January 03, 2006, 07:14:56 pm
A big "thank you" to everyone who has helped me with my glass bottle mission.  The site is pretty much all put together.  There are a few more bottlers that I have to add and I'm waiting for a few more pictures to arrive.
The web site is http://www.glassbottlesoda.org/ and feel free to send any more information my way!

Doc

Nice job.

I think we have a ginger ale company here in SC that could be listed.  Let me get the information for you.

Kevin

Hello

Here is a link to a bottled soda distributor that carries the SC Ginger Ale.  It is called Blenheim & it is a little hot.

Hello

This is great! I just finished going through every listed website & it is like a dream come true to have this listed.

I do have one question.

Where can I buy my drink/soda of choice "Diet Coke" in glass bottles?  I saw the Pepsi posting about two or three weeks ago.

Kevin

I hear that a lot of Sam's Club stores sell 8 oz. Coke and Diet Coke by the case.

You can mail order it from the same place I get my Mt. Dew - Retro Soda http://www.retrosoda.com/8ozbottles.html - they also have a banner ad on the main SMC page.  If you go to the Chicagoland Show they have a booth there.  I always pick my stuff up there.  I email my order a week or so before to make sure that they have/bring what I want need.

I bought my last couple of cases of 8oz glass Diet Coke for $7 a case from a co-workers husband who drives for Coke.  Are you in SC?

Oh yeah, I have gotten Coke at Sam's, but haven't seen Diet here. But, I would think if they carry Coke they could get Diet.

Yes I am in SC

Sam's has a lot of stuff but no Diet Coke. Plus I will not pay $5 for a six pack of small bottles.  I would like to get 12 oz glass bottles.

I do vend the 12 plastic diet cokes but it is just not the same.

Kevin,
Have a source in Iowa that bottles coke and diet coke.  They don't like to ship because they dont' get the bottles back.  So I make a trip 3-4 times a year.  Long ways from NC

Vendo 63 bottle working(most of the time)

Along the Southern Minnesota/Wisconsin border is the little town of Winona.  They still refill 6.5 ounce Coke along with 10 and 16 ounce Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Mellow Yellow.  You have to have returnable empties to trade for full ones (plus a wood case).  I'm not sure about the 10 ounce price, but a 6.5 ounce case is either $7 or $7.50. (Some locals don't like to tell people about this.  My aunt and uncle kept denying for a while that they still refill bottles.) http://www.glassbottlesoda.org/bottlers/cokewinona.shtml

gatorkc- do you know if your source getting them from Winona or are they bottling their own?

Hey Doc! I don't know where it's bottled... but BIG RED CO. is bottling Nugrape soda out on the West coast.
Got a buddy living out there who collects Nugrape and said when he was at a small sandwich shop
he went to the cooler to pick out a drink and about fell over... there was Nugrape soda... in glass bottles with the old star logo.
Any of you California guy see this? He's in San Diego.... He's gonna try and send me a few bottles.

Hmmm... what store chain is carrying it? Haven't seen it here yet in MO (That's Missouri... I think :) )
Wal-Mart here carries Crush in a couple flavors and IBC rootbeer in bottles. I wish SAM's
would put Grapette in bottles (If they do I haven't seen it yet just 2 liters.)
But that's good ol' Wal-Mart for you. I bet they are running that soda plant day and night!
They'll run it into the ground like HUFFY and a few others....

I'll have to get ahold of Barry over at RetroSoda and see if he'll tell me where his NuGrape is coming from.  Last I heard Dublin Dr. Pepper was bottling it (even though I think they were having someone else bottle it and they were just distributing it).  Does it say anything on the bottle or cap?  See if he can get you the bottling code (if there is one) that is stamped on the bottle.

Wow, someone in Winona could make a fortune acting as an after-market shipper for people that can't make it there. A couple of bucks extra, plus shipping, and you could do pretty well. I know I would work with that person.

I have close to 200 bottles in a garage,(in wooden cases, to boot) and I would love to get them filled.

BTW: Great site, Galaga!

Thanks, I should be making my trip up there in about a month to refill my bottles (I think I'm up to 13 6.5 oz. cases and 2 10 oz. cases).  It would be a nice road trip for you. This person drives from DC.
