Title: My new shop
Post by: loman4ec on December 19, 2005, 01:56:00 pm
Well this is nothing like Terry's or Glen's shop but I now finally have a workplace. I put an ad on Craigslist that I was looking for a small shop to rent. This guy answered and offered me this outbuilding behind his house. I am so excited to finially have a place to work. I have been working out of storage units for too long. It is plenty big for me and he even said he doesn't care if I shoot paint in it. WHat a deal. It is about 15 miles from my house in the University area. The best thing it is only $60 per month with electric included. What a deal. I don't mean to brag I am just so happy I had to share the good news with everyone.

I can relate to that feeling Josh.  Freedom to do whatever you want.
Now we get Terry to install a paint booth, sandblast station and bathroom.:D
Glad you sent pictures today of the building empty, 'cause in 6 months it will be full

Josh,

Good luck with the new work shop!
I hope the area is safe from prying eyes because the shed doesn't look very secure...

This is great opportunity for you because once you get your own place where you can have something like this in the back yard, you'll have the kinks worked out so you'll know what size will work(bigger is always better!), work/paint/assembly area setup, etc, etc...

Lastly, get plenty of lighting in there!

It is in an Ok neighborhood. I am going to get a good insurance policy on it just in case and I also bought a few locks for the outside. I already bought three double tube flourescent lights to light it up. Now all I need is more machines. My Dad is back from Singapore this month so I am going to the Casino with my dad and Grandpa this week so hopefully I will be lucky and be able to fill it with machines. Yeah right.

Congrat's Josh on your new shop. I have worked my butt of to get my shop and equip., Everytime I restore or sell a machine I buy more equip. and inventory. There was times I felt like my shop was a bottomless money pit, but I finially have pretty much all the equip. that I need to be self sufficient. There's nothing worse than trying to establish your business and having to rely on borrow, use or rent other peoples stuff. Your your drive you'll be sucessful.  :)

Hey Josh, what are the dimensions on that building? The reason I asked Terry and yourself is because I am in the infant stages of planning a shop that I hope to build in 2006.

Just trying to get a good idea of how much space I'll need.

I honestly have no idea. I am going out of town tonight so I don't know if I will get to the shop before I go. If I do I will measure for you. It looks like a standard two car garage to me.

You guys make me laugh

A standard two car garage. Here we'd have enough space to have three families living in there.

Good Luck

Dave

Hi Josh, This will be a great place to work. You better put a bed in there because From the first time you called me on the Frostie Machine, You have gone nuts with this stuff but I think were all nuts about this stuff. Sounds like you will be spending alot of time there. Still waiting on that call! Curtis, Memory Lane Restorations  memorylane@myactv.net
