Title: Soda refills Post by: on September 03, 2002, 11:02:36 pm I'm looking to find a supplier of Coke, 7-Up and Diet Coke in the 8-10 ounce bottles.
The grocery stores are charging $4.00 per 6 pack of 8 oz. Coke. Is there a more affordable way to re-stock these machines?? Title: Soda refills Post by: on September 04, 2002, 12:30:23 am Hi
I have 7 old 50's soda pop machines that I use all the time. Both my daughter and I drink a lot of pop. For us it is fun to buy pop when it is on sale (usually 5 12 pack cans for $10.00) at the local stores and then refill our 1950's pop bottles by hand and cap them with original unused brand soda caps we buy on e-bay. I know it may sound like a lot of trouble but it has been a family thing and is fun for us. If you don't care if your bottles/caps are original you can just purchase a couple of 24 bottle cases of coke in the new bottles and buy generic bottle caps to refill them. These are often on sale at Wall-Mart. The pop will still stay fresh for several months by doing this. Wal Mart sells orange crush soda 6-paks with a twist top cap bottle for $2.50 each. Pretty cheap. Then again coke sells plastic 500 ML (16.9 oz.) bottles that fit well in the Ideal Sliders also. So, this is what I do: Collect original 50's bottles to use Buy original unused caps/crowns on e-bay Sterilize bottles after each use Fill and re-cap them by hand Re-use them in my machines After the original investment of bottles, capper and caps/crowns I find it by far cheaper to refill all my brand soda's with pop on sale at the local stores. Sometimes I may even use a cheaper brand soda to refill some brands. Anyway as I said it is a family thing and fun for the kids. |
