Title: Decal concern? Post by: dprat1 on November 24, 2005, 11:08:12 am I read on the Antiques Vending site that water release decals will begin to flake after about 5 years if applied over paint without a clear coat. My C-51 was painted with ackrylic enamal and was not planning to clear coat. Since I am planning on keeping this machine for may years...I would hate to see flaking decals. The embossing will be painted but was planning on using decals for the sides. Anybody had this problem with the decals over time? Could the flaking be a result of applying decals over acrylic paint too soon?
I am off in search of turkey now Actually, it won't hard to find as we have two family dinners back-to-back today Thanks, doug Title: Decal concern? Post by: sodaworks on November 25, 2005, 10:53:38 pm I don't believe that you will have a problem within five years. If so just buff it off and apply a new one. I use only vinyl cut decals because I have found that some people will scratch the water release decals with their finger nail to see if it is painted on.

I think Funtronics sells the vinyl ones, too. Title: Decal concern? Post by: sodaworks on November 27, 2005, 11:56:52 pm Title: Decal concern? Post by: sodaworks on November 28, 2005, 05:07:40 pm Funtronics offers the decals in Vinyl.
Title: Decal concern? Post by: dprat1 on November 28, 2005, 05:21:52 pm Thanks all for the input. I do not see the "Have A Coke" vinyl decals in my Funtronic's catalogue, just the water release. My catalogue is a couple of years old so I think I will give Steve a call to see if they are now available in vinyl. Think I would be more comfortable with the vinyl.
