Title: Restoration and parts and info
Post by: on November 16, 2005, 01:03:52 am
I obtained what I believe is a Dr Pepper Vendorlator F117D-F about 16 years ago. It's in storage at the present moment and I don't have access to it to get the model and serial number off of the machine. My specific question is I am interested restoring the machine and would like to obtain parts. I have no idea where to begin since I have never attempted this sort of thing. The machine is in decent shape. The lights and fan motor work, but doesn't cool. I also dont have a lot of money to invest into it which is why I need to to the work myself if possible. Can anyone offer some advise?

First off, welcome to SMC! It's great to have you here.
My very first machine that I tackled was a Vendorlator 117B-H so I kinda know what your looking at.

When it comes to the refrigeration system, the best advice I can give is this: Purchase a new system or have yours repaired by a trained professional unless you already have that expertise.

If you get a chance, send me a picture of your refrigeration deck (main door open so I can see the evaporator too). I have a "left-over" restored deck from my restoration of my 117 that I need to get rid of.

Kevin - make sure all the wiring is GOOD and small electrical parts (t-stat, both fans, relay & overload protector on compressor) are working. If they are all good then you need to start thinking about the sealed system... Either have it recharged (if you can find someone to do it) or buying a new/refurbished/replacement system as Brian suggests.
