Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 07, 2005, 09:55:21 am Hey
I followed Josh's path to success & posted an add in the Charleston SC part of Craigs list. I got a hit this weekend & here is what they sent me. ""Saw your message for purchasing coke/soda machines. We have an RC Cola chest stlye machine that is in very good condition. We have own and used it for over 20 years. It will easily chill drinks to 30 degrees. Shows signs of minor touch up by previous owner. " So I will post a picture when I get it. I am hoping for some type of slider machine. Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 07, 2005, 01:12:40 pm Hello
Bingo a complete RC Cola Slider. The owner sent me 6 pictures & this thing looks great. Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: Eric on November 07, 2005, 01:16:02 pm Sweet score! Way to go!
Eric Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 07, 2005, 01:16:36 pm Hello
Here is the side view. So what should I offer for this thing? Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 07, 2005, 01:17:43 pm Hey
No score yet but at least I am in the game! Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: MoonDawg on November 07, 2005, 06:01:54 pm Good job Kevin, but first use this for bargaining. A Royal Crown slider has embossed letters and is painted yellow. This guy has a generic 55 slider painted the wrong color and has a newer style 1960's RC sticker. A close look at the coin box, it's big and boxy with very little chrome. He probably knows the Ideal "high top" coin mech. is so much more attractive and valuable than his.
That said, you know he is expecting you to pay him at least the amount he paid for the machine, plus his body and paint work. $700.00 to $1000.00 total. It's difficult to take a loss, but you're in the drivers seat. (Change the red logo to Coca Cola and it will sell) Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 07, 2005, 09:58:04 pm Hey M D
I hope not much because he said he has owned it for 20 years. I sent him a note asking how much he wants for it so I hope I can get a deal. So this should be ready for the soft close tomarrow. Good luck to me & then I will pass it by the boss. Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 08, 2005, 12:00:13 pm Wow!!!
They want $350 for it & will deliver it it to me for no charge. So what should I do? Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: MoonDawg on November 08, 2005, 12:16:06 pm Did you read Jasmines post today? Missed a slider by 2 hours.
BUY it and don't haggle on price. He may change his mind tomorrow. Title: Rc chest Post by: Eric on November 08, 2005, 12:22:54 pm Wow!... Way to go Kevin... That's a deal!.... Hmmmm Maybe I should look into this Craig list thing... Wonder if they have it for Missouri.....
Eric Title: Rc chest Post by: on November 08, 2005, 01:44:46 pm Nice score Kevin!
Title: Rc chest Post by: on November 09, 2005, 12:58:11 pm Kevin,
I would grab that in a heartbeat. It looks to be a real clean slider at a great price. Most importantly, it has the rack. I see people on ebay selling the rack for almost as much as this machine. I have an Ideal Slider in my office and love it. She will hold almost any glass or plastic bottle and is nice and compact. I have bought and sold a couple of these. I am restoring a Glasco slider for a client who saw my machine and had to have one. Of all of the Ideal or Glasco 55's I have had, I have never had any of them have a refrigeration problem. I always change the cords, check the wiring and they have all fired right up and cooled down. For the rest of you guys, I have found a ton of good stuff on Craigslist. It is probably the only place to find actual bargains online. I found the rack, coin mech and a bunch of other stuff for my first slider on it for $100.00, and found the Ideal slider I have in my office (which was complete, but a little rough) for $50.00. I'm still kicking myself on that one. But the upside is I got to spend those few hours between phone calls with a great friend I hadnt seen since last New Years Day. Title: Rc chest Post by: glassbottlesrule on November 09, 2005, 03:23:42 pm Snap that baby up. Should be easy to make a nice profit on that one.
Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 11, 2005, 01:14:11 pm Hello
Here is the update. $400 & they will deliver it to me next Wednesday. They offered to split the cost of $50 for gas but I said I would pay it all. So $350 for the slider & $50 for deliver. I think I am getting a deal. I will post more pictures when I get it. Now how to work on these things? New fan motors etc. Something new to learn. Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: glassbottlesrule on November 11, 2005, 03:56:05 pm Only 1 fan motor. The nice thing about the sliders is how simple they are. There is a post on here somewhere by JohnieG that explains how the Ideal cooling systems works with some great drawings.

RC Cola is inbound for the SC coast on Wednesday. The former owner said she will call when shne gets off I-95. I am sure each of you understands the excitment of a new machine arriving. It will be hard to sleep tonight. Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 16, 2005, 12:21:05 pm Wow
Its in the back of my truck! This thing is great & you would think that the money mechanism was right out of the factory. Complete Ideal 55 that is fully functional. Locks, rack, crank handle etc. So I will load it with product tonight & get it ready for Thanksgiving. Pictures tonight when I get it home. Here are a few photo's Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: Kevin C on November 18, 2005, 09:21:02 pm Hello
Look at this coin mechanism. It looks brand new. Plus the second photo is of the change box. I assume the little brass metal thing is the adjustment tool for the coin mechanism. Any ideas? Plus I have the two original keys. Key for the coin mechanism & the lock/key for the bottle loading door plus I have the screw handle. I plugged the machine in early today & it was holding 30 degrees. I do want to install a new wiring harness because the plug in cord is in bad shape. Kevin Title: Rc chest Post by: Eric on November 18, 2005, 10:09:30 pm Awesome.... Can't beleive how clean it is... It must of lived the easy life!
