Title: Opinions, please Post by: 90grad on November 01, 2005, 09:53:03 am All,
Here is a Vendo 90 about 1.5 hours from me. My neighbor is interested in it and asked for my advice. Just by reading the description and looking at the photos I have the following questions/concerns. Please let me know your opinions. 1. Is it the evap fan or the condensor fan that has pooped out? (I sent the seller the question about this). 2. Looks like the coin mech is incomplete (looks like a Vendo Vari-Price). 3. That's one wierdo looking thermostat. 4. The amount of rust in the bottom of the tub concerns me. Could the belly plate be really bad (belt line)? I guess I would need your thoughts on whether to go after it or not. My neighbor doesn't want to spend a mint on a machine (about $300). My fear is he could get this one for a few hundred and then have to dump more than that in it to make it really workable (not including paint) if it needs some major work. He'd like to find something that was pretty sound, needing maybe a rewiring job. Thoughts? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....ru=http Title: Opinions, please Post by: johnieG on November 01, 2005, 10:21:06 am I fixed the link for you, as it wasn't working...the rust looks like its just scaly rust from a plugged drain, it's not all over the bottom pan of the liner, so maybe it's not as bad as it looks in my opinion, (ask for more pictures of the back, & both sides to see if you can see any blisters, but a personel inspection may be in order) the "T-stat" is just a generic replacement used a lot for reach-in coolers & the like, ugly, yes, but function, don't sweat the non-working evaportor fan is an easy & cheap fix, about $20/ea. for a new one, & you may as well figure on replacing them both, upper & lower too (condensor fan) at least it looks pretty straight & not banged up....hope it helps, the coinmech isn't a concern, (it's an early Coinco die-cast 9400/9800 series/conversion) it will either work or not, & any coinco S75-9800A/B series will replace it cheap enough $20-40/ on ebay... or it can be repaired too, so go for it! PS you'll need a cap catcher too!

Clean it (inside & coils), install two new fan motors, new T-stat & wiring harness. That thing would be ready to rock. Component replacement didn't bug me, as the electical part is fairly straightforward and I have a spare coin mech. This particular t-stat was new to me. The main thing I was/am concerned about is the rust and the potential belt-line damage. I'll ask for more info. How high to go considering two motors, harness, t-stat, and cap catcher will be about $150-$200? I was thinking no more than $100-125.
P.S. I checked my email and the guy said the condensor fan is the one that's out. I replied, asking about more photos. |
