Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on October 25, 2005, 11:03:03 pm Today I came across a gentleman who used to work for Coke and he has an old Vendo 144 with two tone paint in okay looking shape. He claims it gets cold and the coin changer still works but he hasn't actually powered it up in a number of years.
Here's where it gets interesitng...The machine has been converted (very professionally) to a "glass door" bottle vendor with the door on the RIGHT side. The owner says that way back when, there was a retro fit kit for these things so they could vend multiple flavors and he thought different size bottles too. The kit included the door parts, whatever internal parts and a cover plate for the chute opening at the bottom of the machine. The cover plate for the chute had some kind of logo on it like an "S" inside a wide letter "V" or similar. The kit was NOT made by Vendo I was told. Anyway he wants $250 for the thing as is. Does anyone have any comments or input on this? Has anyone ever heard of this kind of kit or conversion? Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: loman4ec on October 25, 2005, 11:10:26 pm It looks like good old Selectivend had another conversion. I would say any roundtop for $250 is worth it. The coin door and cooling system are worth that. Do you have any pictures? I would really like to see it.
Josh Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: on October 26, 2005, 12:09:36 am I concur with Josh, grab any good condition roundtop for under $500.
And I too want to see piccies. Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: MoonDawg on October 26, 2005, 11:39:33 am A Vendo 144 has the coin door in the center, which would make a glass door conversion difficult.
This may be the Vendo 83 glass door conversion. Pretty rare, good buy at $250 Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Kilroy on October 26, 2005, 04:39:52 pm In my neck of the woods, a good condition round top under $1000 is rare. grab it.

Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on November 04, 2005, 06:18:36 pm Yes the coin door is in the middle, but it is now a door model with the door on the right hand side. I'll post pics if it's possible here.
The guy who has this machine has LOTS of round-top machines, square machines, coolers, picnic coolers, gas pumps, coke stuff, etc. He worked for coke for many years and now is retired running a "junk/antique" shop in Mississippi. I am pretty certain he has never used the internet to sell his machines, he just deals locally. I asked if he'd ever taken a truck load of stuff to any HotRod shows, biker rallies, antique car show/swap meets, etc and he said "No, the idea never crossed my mind". I am considering working with him to list his inverntory online. Should I assume you guys are interested? Email me if you'd like. John@LoCashRacing.Org Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Creighton Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on November 04, 2005, 06:37:41 pm So, does anyone know if we can post pictures on the topics? It would sure beat emailing pics out to everyone.

Yup, pics can be embedded into a post. Check out the Help Button upper right corner of this screen (or any forum screen) and look for Images... Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Creighton on November 04, 2005, 07:02:24 pm LCJ,
You can add two to each post. If there are a bunch of pictures maybe use the "Photo Gallery". Creighton Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: BryanH on November 04, 2005, 07:09:48 pm
Or file attachments... if you want to upload rather than reference files on a server. Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on November 04, 2005, 08:12:10 pm Okay. When I get pics I'll put some up.
I'm going to buy the V-144 and give it to my father-in-law for Xmas. It'll look good in his garage with his Harleys and other old bikes. As for the remaining inventory, I'll see what I can do to get a bunch of stuff listed and pics too. Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Pixel on November 07, 2005, 01:59:54 am
If you don't mind me asking, where in MS is he located? Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on November 07, 2005, 11:24:08 pm In the next fews days I plan on putting up pics of his shop and perhaps a full inventory with pics and prices but before I do I want to make sure it's okay with him. This includes telling where his shop is, phone number etc... If he doesn't want to be bothered with a bunch of folks calling about machines then I'm not going to do it.
John Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on November 09, 2005, 12:52:36 am I finally got some pics of the vendo 144. Let's see if I'm smart enough to post them...
Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: loman4ec on November 09, 2005, 12:54:36 am That is the oddest thing I have ever seen. By the coin door and the way it is added it looks like it was done by selectivend. Cool machine.

Title: Is this a good price for a vendo 144... Post by: Lo Cash John on November 09, 2005, 12:58:37 am You're right, it is a Selectivend conversion. I'm getting it for my father-in-law as an early Xmas gift. Now if I can just get him to get me that new Suzuki Hyabusa...
