I made the 40 minute drive to pick up this Cornelius slider today. I found it on Craigslist, needs some work, but for $50 I figured I'd get it. It has a Coca Cola button on the front and had a faded 70's sticker across the sign. I was hoping to find the Coca Cola stylestar behind the sticker. As I removed it from the right side I saw an "i"...

That may be. It can't be both. Although I just picked it up today my thoughts were to do it as a Coke originally. Now I am wondering if I should keep the sign and get a matching disc or vice versa.

It is missing the coin box. Has the rack, but I have to figure out how to get it in over the rollers. some minor surface rust, top laminate needs replaced, cord is shot, but it cools.

Agreed!
Seems like the Coke signs are difficult to find (finding a Pepsi button my be even more difficult). I'm surprised that Fun-Tronics hasn't reproduced them yet.

I figured I'd go the route of whichever I found first. The light up sign in the back is kind of cool, but don't know if I'd find the button on the front for Pepsi. The Coke sign on the back might come around first and then I could just swap it and get rid of the Pepsi one. Oooh, that was confusing.

Dan, the metal laminate sheet on my woodgrain lid was coming off the top too, but I think you just need to remove it, sand the old glued sides down and then rea epoxy it again (or whatever glue stuff you should use). Ask Josh (Loman4ec), he used to have one and one time he told me what to do to reconnect the laminate top.

Yes just carefully peal the top off and sand down the foam under it. If the top metal is bad you can take it to a metal shop and have them cut a piece of metal to replace it with. On one of these that I did I took the new top to a sign shop and had it covered in Vinyl. I did this so it would be more durable when people set things on it. I attached a pic of it. This was the first machine I ever built.

Wow! What a great use for an old slider! And much more efficient than opning it all the time. What clever placement for the tap! I've never seen this pic before Josh. Great job.

Thanks everyone. I used spay on contact cement. It holds great. But for some reason on the second one I did like this the contact cement wouldn't hold so I used epoxy and that worked fine as well. The kegerator worked great but I didn't know that keg beer has to stay cold or it goes bad so you had to make sure that the keg was gone in a day or two. Below is another pic of the kegerator and of the second lid.

And the secon machine. This is also a new lid top made out of galvanized steal and the top is covered in white vinyl and epoxied on.

Gosh Josh that's a pretty big keg, how did you do it?
Don't they offer a keg small enough to fit inside the cooling area?

Only a small homebrew or micro brew keg will fit. It is the width that is constricting. The kegs that fit are similar to cornelius kegs for soda. We used it a few times for partys and it worked great. But at our partys we needed a few kegs that size. That was in college and I have settled down alot since then. I'm a lightweight now. I ended up selling that machine and bought my first upright. The USS-64 and did my first upright restoration. At that point I was hooked. Here I am 55 machines later.

You could always buy this and have a Coke machine and then save or sell the Pepsi sign...
