I use Westleys Bleach-White (no it doesn't contain bleach) it's available a your local automotive parts supplier, such as, Murrays. Pep-Boys, Auto-zone, etc. its used for cleaning white wall tires, & boy does it ever work on gunky gaskets too! I use a spray bottle & a scotch-brite pad (or steel-wool) & have a rag handy to  clean out the grooves, really cuts through the sticky old tar-like gummy soda/grease crude, be warned not to get it on any printed labels/and or decals as it will tend to lift/smear the ink! dampen the rag & use it to deep clean the plastic door liner too! (also avoiding the loading instuctions/decals) you will be amazed at the crude that will lift off!
