Title: Springfield, mo swapmeet
Post by: coke_and_stuff on August 28, 2005, 10:48:45 am
Springfield swap meet this year was sloooooooow. I guess people arent spending any money. a few things caught my eye first off a Vendo 39 shell, no coin door, coin mech, drum etc. The cooling unit was there asking price $375.00. Lots of overpriced rusty gas, oil, and soda related signs. Hardly any gas pumps this year. Two rough Lacrosse Pepsi squaretops only $100.00 for the pair. Im glad I brought the Camaro LOL. I did however spot this little gem, smashed down top, missing the handle lonely, cold errrr i mean HOT. I got it for $35.00 rock solid, Only thing missing was the handle and tray if it even had one. I picked up a rusted out generic a year or so ago at a flea market for $1.00 robbed the handle and corner pieces that paid off, as the handle fits this Pepsi perfect.

Sorry for the long boring read

Joey

Parts can sure come in handy.
Here's how to have fun with these coolers that have been used as step ladders.  The guy at the swap meet has this cooler for sale.....lid crushed in so the bar won't lock. Negotiate your best price then pay him.   Next, with the bar out of the way, put your foot firmly on the edge of the lid and give that handle a good hard tug upward.  Oh !!! the sound of that POP as the lid returns close to it's original shape.  Pick it up and leave. :D

Don't forget to say, "There that's better" within earshot of the seller!  :oh:

Glen,
I did that a couple of years ago at the pomona swap meet. A bunch of drunk guys were selling a RC cooler for 50.00 bucks, I offered 20.00 because the lid was smashed down. After paying, I put my knee on the edge and jerked the dent completely out of the lid. You should have seen the look on their faces. :D

Joey...
While you're there having fun digg'n through all the stuff I'm home pulling weeds along the sidewalk and driveway....
Would have loved to have gone! Any Studebakers? Or while I'm dreaming Any 1948 Tuckers?...
I'll be heading down to Branson in a week for vacation... will have to hit Randy's and a few old hang outs in Springfield...
Wish you'd have found a 56 for parts to finish yours.... Was Ross set up?.....

Eric

I did the dent pulling trick and it seems to have come out most of the way. Ross was setup I stopped and talked seems like everytime I talk with him he is either irritated or grumpy. No 56 machines, Im actually considering letting a 56 go after I get the bottom back in it of course. It will be ready for a donor machine to get it back up and running. other than a nice large door coin mech my other 56 is COMPLETE!!!!! I located 7 shelves with sliders, a complete mechanical stack and a few other odds and ends. My 81 will be done with paint in the next day or so I just have to many projects and not enough time. I'll post some pics of my 81 when she comes home, Its over at a buddies place we have been working on it everyday for the last month or so.
