Title: Vmc 56
Post by: Kevin C on August 27, 2005, 10:20:49 pm
Hello

We got a little break in the hot weather & I finished with the VMC56. I bought this machine from Jasmine64. I just installed the normal 2 new fan motors, new T-stat & new wiring harness. Plus I cleaned the two coils.

I decided for now to keep this machine as a bottle machine & I loaded it with 12oz gatorades for my son.

This series of pictures show the intallation of a new light fixture.

Hello

The shows the new fixture installed.  I just drilled the light in place with two self tapping screws & I left the plastic light cover off.

Hello

This shows the cover in place & you can just see the switch I installed hanging down in the coin compartment. I cutout & disabled the switch that is on the light fixture.  This way I can turn the light on/off from the coin compartment.

The light is an under the counter light I bought at Lowe's & the switch is a simple push button type.

Man oh man, Kev!!!! That's sweet! Great job on the light install. Did you get the sign insert from Funtronics?

You've got quite the collection going!

Hello

The machine came set up for a light & I think the insert did come from Funtonics but Jasmine64 will  have to answer that question. The old light fixture was just gone.

Now when I get to work on the V56 (gray machine) I am converting it from a no frills thrifi-vend machine to a machine with light & glass bottle door. That one will take some work to get the holes drilled & the sign set in place. That is another project for the winter.

Yes the insert came from Funtronics.

I not sure if the machine ever had a light fixture. The socket clamp looked like had very little use.

Kevin - very nice job....  Was it originally a Coke or Pepsi machine?  Did you paint it yourself?

Nice touch to reward the recovery team with a machine for their drinks...

Thanks for remembering the Coke Machine Rescue Team.

Those guys (Kevin Jr & Matt) had their first football game Friday night & came out with a Win. They are on the shelf for Machine Rescue until December.  They made that trip across the state into a real adventure & I am not sure if I will ever hear the complete story.

Hey not sure what the machine was before but it has been repainted sometime in the past.  Jasmine64 was the owner prior to me so maybe she can shed some light.

I can tell you one thing is that it works great! New fan motors, T-stat & a good cleaning has this thing humming right along. The vending stuff is excellent!

My problem is that once I get a machine I dont want to trade/sell it.

When I bought the machine from a guy not far from me,
he had pepsi and dr pepper stickers on it. Along with some 70's flower power
stickers, they peeled right off.

The sign was a dp sign with places where stickers had also been stuck
all over it. He peeled them off while
we were looking over the machine and discussing the purchase.
I took that out and replaced it with the Coke sign from funtronics.

Hey Kevin - when you added the light to your VMC56, I'm assuming that by using and under the shelf unit you didn't need to bother with a starter and ballast (they'd be buried in the assembly somewhere)?

Bryan, you're correct, the undercounter light fixture has a built in ballast & starter, you can either use the orignal wire conectors to supply power to the new light assembly, or if the machine was a metal-sign converted to a lightup (and therefore had no wire-harness connectors in the first place) then you just spice off of pins #1 & #2 of the female Jones socket of the coinmech.

Thanks Johnie - worked great with hardly any fuss. There was already a set of connectors coming out of the Jones connector box... (I think the machine must have had a light before it was Squirt'ized) so tapping in was a no brainer.  Anyway, still need to hook up a junction box and switch but the sign now has a light.  Will eventually tap into the bottle door light circuit and put a switch on it also.  Looks sweet at night.
