Title: My new machine
Post by: jasmine64 on August 07, 2005, 08:44:50 pm
OK, picked up the machine today, where to begin...Has minimal rust, needs lots of cleaning, recharging and need to fix a hinge or two.
It's on 6 casters. It's not much, but will be the last one I buy for a while.

First question how do I fix the hing?

Hinge pic.

I rally like this machine and would love to restore it and keep it in the garage.

Very nice!! Guessing it will take some new metal to get the hinges solid again. A pic of the hinge backside will help if possible. Great score.

Seeing that... I'd say a new piece of metal spliced in but it depends on how bad it is up to the embossed letters....
May need to watch for lids on ebay and restore the rest and leave the lids for last. I have seen lids pop up from
time to time. and you could get lucky.
Give us the model number and dimensions of the lids we can all keep a look out for you. There was a cap catcher just last week on ebay. you're gonna need 2.

I like it.  I like it a lot.  If you can't tell, I was impersonating Forrest Gump.  :p That looks really nice, congratulations.

jasmine64,
Nice cooler. I may have some spare lids, let me know how long your lids are.

Nice!  Looks like it is just big enough to keep everything cold for the annual SMC picnic!

I got some metal and some kind of putty from a autobody shop. He said to place the metal on the back of the rusted places, and use the putty to fill it in. Said it dries hard and sands easy.

I'll let ya know how it works out.

I wasn't able to add pics very early this morning either. I wonder if Jim is experiencing any problems with the system?

I added my pictures form photobucket.com and had no problems. I just placed pictures on the site and then used the provided urls. I even used my own machine as my avatar :D

This is one set of racks that goes in the bottom of the cooler. They need cleaning and I have been thinking about using hammertone spray on them , I'm waiting for Joesquid's experiment to conclude before making my decision.

Last pic. Of the inside. I can get gaskets and liners for the lids from Funtronics. This is going to be a great project for this fall/winter.

Jasmine - I'd try hammerite right away unless you are considering powdercoating.  I think your cooler is a water cooler (I don't know - I'm guessing) and Eric isn't testing how it fairs underwater.  You could help extend the durability testing.

I think it is a dry cooler. Since it is a CD22 the D stands for dry. That also looks like a dry evaporator shroud.

Yep, it's dry. I'm going to have the cooling unit looked at next week. It comes on but wont cool.
Cycles off and on every few minutes.
