Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 03, 2005, 08:20:54 pm I'm looking for some parts to a USS-8-64. That's what the tag says the model is. Can someone tell me what brand that is and where I can get parts for it. Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks. Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: sodaworks on August 03, 2005, 09:01:37 pm Welcome aboard bminer,
what parts are you looking for? Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 03, 2005, 09:47:36 pm Welcome aboard Bminer... I would guess the machine you have is a Cavalier USS 8-64, which has an oversized front door, behind which there are pull cogs that vend individual bottles and/or cans. If you can post some additional info out here, there's a number of folks that work with these machines. You may also want to contact some of the advertisers on this site -- funtronics in particular -- which carry a number of these parts. You may also have some luck with Ebay, either parts for sale, or donor machines - there's some uglies out there that can be donors. There's a whole family of Cav's out there that are 64- bottle machines, like the CSS 8-64 that share some common parts.
Good luck, these machines can be a blast, and welcome to the board! Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 04, 2005, 01:20:18 am I need a few things. I need a new key, and I have the key number. I also need some shelves and also a change box. I also wonder if the coin mechanism works correctly. I couldn't get it to work when I put in a quarter (the dispenser knob wouldn't turn).
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 04, 2005, 08:31:46 am Watch ebay for the shelves. Another good place to check are the part suppliers link on the homepage here. Funtronics and soda jerk works are both good.
The Uss 8-64 is a great machine. I love the fact that you can vend bottles or cans. I am in the middle of restoring one right now and just picked up it's big brother the Uss 12-96. Unfortunatly I have no extra parts right now. Good luck and welcome to the board. Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: loman4ec on August 04, 2005, 08:56:14 am I think I have your parts. Please email me at jdloman2000@yahoo.com and we can work something out. Also include what your lock code is as I have a bunch of cavalier keys. How many shelves do you need? I had a bunch but I threw some away when I moved. I think I have two left. No one remakes them for the USS 64.

You shouldn't have a dispenser knob on a C-64 Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 04, 2005, 10:42:17 am
He has the USS 8-64 that does have the knobs. Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: loman4ec on August 04, 2005, 11:08:52 am I just went out and looked I have found three shelves and I am still looking for a coin box. I am pretty sure that I have one somewhere. Again send me an email and we can work something out.
Josh Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: sodaworks on August 04, 2005, 01:00:50 pm I too may have some parts, Let me know if Josh doesn't have all the parts you need.
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: MoonDawg on August 04, 2005, 03:14:23 pm Re-read what Mike stated about knobs, that's why the wide bottle door? What do they do?
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: loman4ec on August 04, 2005, 03:46:16 pm Glen on a USS-64 the door is wider than a CSS 64. They have a knob for each selection that you rotate and it plops out the selection. It is just a different way for the slant shelf to vend to allow the machine to dispense cans. I would post a pic for you but I am on my Moms computer.
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 04, 2005, 04:12:58 pm Josh I sent you a picture that you can use for the pic of the vending unit on the USS machines. For some reason my computer is not allowing me to post any picture.
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 04, 2005, 05:21:47 pm I cheated... here's the link from the machine section of the site...
USS 8-64 machine In the picture of the machine open, you'll see a row of knobs to the right of the vending openings. To vend, you rotate those knobs, which causes a can/bottle to vend into the opening. You then can reach in to get to the can. When the machine is closed, when you look through the glass what you see is the row of knobs. Each knob has a sitcker location for the soda label. The side of the door where the cans are retrieved is blocked from view. It's really a neat machine, very nice size and can vend quite a bit. Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 04, 2005, 05:23:21 pm Well, my cheat link didn't work as intended... to find the picture, select the link along the left side for Cavalier, then scroll across the top to the USS-64. That's our baby! Sorry about any unintended confusion --
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: johnieG on August 04, 2005, 05:36:12 pm This should help ... this ones on ebay.
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 05, 2005, 09:46:45 pm You know, probably shouldn't say this but... why in the heck would someone post a picture to sell a machine with as nasty of a tub bottom as this machine has? You can just feel the rust in your bones....
Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: johnieG on August 06, 2005, 09:40:57 am Actually, also looks like a sticky slick of soda-syrup
the bottom of the liner/tank of most machines will usually have some surface rust, but letting a puddle sit on the bottom, (caused by a plugged drain) will rust out the metal quickly, especially around the screws that hold the evaporator housing to the tank bottom, and from there it'll turn into a "wet blanket" of insulation underneath the liners floorpan & rot the machine from the inside out.... Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: loman4ec on August 06, 2005, 10:38:25 am Bminer, Please contact me asap if you want parts. I am moving Monday early morning and I do not plan on taking these with me so if you want them please contact me prior tp monday or I am going to leave them at my mothers house. I also found you a coin box.

Title: Uss-8-64 Post by: on August 10, 2005, 11:30:51 pm Thanks for all the help. I don't know a thing about old coke machines, I'm into antique tractors, and I discovered this. I was just going to see if I could get it working, it doesn't look that bad. Just a little elbow grease and it should be alright.
