Title: Shelves Post by: on July 25, 2005, 12:19:18 pm I just purchased a Vendo 6-case vertical in great orginal condition. Unfortunately, it's missing the shelves. This is my first foray into the world of soda machines and I know little about them and am having a hard time finding shelves for this particular unit. My question is, are the shelves for the 6-case cooler interchangable with any of the other machines? Maybe the 110 as the two are supposed to be almost identical? Any info, leads, or recommendations for a good book on the subject would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard, The self serve shelves are different from the 110. Maybe someone here has some shelves for the self serve. I made a set for my self serve. You might also watch ebay. Title: Shelves Post by: MoonDawg on July 25, 2005, 12:51:29 pm If shelves are your only setback, you got a good deal. You should start with the suppliers who are sponsoring this site. A Vendo 110 has a bottle stack that the shelves feed into, so they will be too short for your machine. Seems they should be easy to fabricate out of sheet metal although I believe the originals were made with rods. How about purchasing several barbeque grills of the proper length and cutting them to the shelf width you need?
Title: Shelves Post by: sodaworks on July 25, 2005, 01:01:11 pm I made mine out of 14 gauge mild steel and welded two tabs, one on each end to hold the shelves in place.
Title: Shelves Post by: coke_and_stuff on July 25, 2005, 01:17:30 pm I was up at Nostalgic Restorations in Ozark, MO on Sat he had a self serve with shelves he had made they looked awesome. If you were interested in a set he could prob get them made for you his number is 417-485-4165 his name is Randy. Also I work at Home Depot, in the flooring dept theres wire shelves I was looking at these the other night you could easily make shelves for your machine out of this.

Really though, as long as they work, that's the main thing. The suggestion about using wire shelving from a home improvement store sounds like it would work well and be a quick and easy fix.
I'm trying to attach a pic (hope it works) of the machine before I picked it up. The paint was a little oxidated so I buffed it with polishing compound and then a machine glazing compound. It turned out great, not perfect of course but I can't imagine too many other original, unrestored machines in better shape. I have no idea what it's worth. I paid $350 for this one and think I got a good deal. Title: Shelves Post by: Kevin C on July 25, 2005, 04:18:39 pm Hello
Welcome. Your machine should have offset racks/mounts on each side of the inner case. Then each shelf allows the (Beer) to roll from left to right. Show us a picture for the inside of your machine. Watch ebay & the shelves will show up. Kevin C Title: Shelves Post by: sodaworks on July 25, 2005, 04:49:55 pm You got a great deal @ 350.00
Title: Shelves Post by: Kilroy on July 25, 2005, 07:24:29 pm You got a really good deal Ken, and welcome to the boards. Hate to tell you, but it's unlikely it will be your frst and last machine

Title: Shelves Post by: on July 26, 2005, 07:49:03 am I don't have a pic of the inside of my machine...time to figure out where the wife hid the digital camera...but all of the brackets and knobs are in place.
Thanks for the pics. It makes sense now, except one thing. What's the function of the bracket on the back of the shelf that comes up and turns in toward the shelf? |
