Howdy all,
It's really overpriced but did anyone else check this out? It looks like a vendo 39 converted to something similar to a V-81 with the bottle door on the right. Wierd...

Kind of interesting do machines like this hold value like the originals or worth less?

That is actually a Vendo 39 that selectivend converted to a slant shelf machine. They did this to V39's and 83's. I have never seen one sell so I don't know about value but that same machine has been running every couple weeks for the past 6 months or more on ebay. You would think that they would figure out that it isn't going to sell.

Seriously though, that is a pretty cool lookin' machine . Kinda' a freak but still cool none the less.

I'm no machine expert either but gotta go with Josh's statement as I've also noticed this machine repeatedly showing up on e-bay for the EXACT SAME PRICE EVERYTIME!! I guess the whole idea is, "If I beat me head against the wall long enough, it'll fall down." Guess "drain bamage" isn't a term familiar to him.

Still, even though it's Waaaay overpriced, this S/V (Selecti-Vend Corp.) conversion is unique in that it allowed an otherwise (then obsolete) single flavor vendor to be converted into a multi-flavor shelf vendor.. I've seen a few S/V "V-81" 's ( converted V83's) pop up from time to time on Greedbay, but this is the first S/V "V-56" style machine that I've seen around lately..yea I like that he stated that .... quote..."There are old coke bottles still in the machine that are old." in the machine ...right along side those rare 3-legged buffalo nickles that were missed when the machine went through it's restoration..I mean come on , you have to belive him, after all, trust him, he's from Vegas!

He may get more action by showing an interior photo.
They must have used a 110 bottle stack, cut down to 56 size because all it's linkage needs to be on the right hand side.
Also curious as to how they latched the main door.
And are we to assume the letters were NOT embossed?

All of the SV glass door machines had the door on the left so they probably used a bottle stack from one of their machines. It looks like it has the same main door latch as my 7up SV. It is a chrome hole that had a lock in it. You put the key in and remove the lock to reveal an allen locking bolt. You have to insert a tool (similar to the side door of an ideal 55) to lock and unlock the door.

Just a side note....I was taking a look in my trusty Jeff Walters "Classic Soda Machines" 3rd Edition book and had put it down face first on my desk and noticed a picture of the very same machine shown/talked about in this thread.
It's smack dab in the middle of the back cover between a yellow VMC 27 and a Jacobs 50. It's got the cool pinstripping and looks to be a photo, not an illustration.
