Title: I need a picture Post by: jasmine64 on May 26, 2005, 02:25:33 pm I need a pic of a Vendo 63 squaretop done in the classic red and white colors. (My machine is the version with the wood grain coin door). Anyone have a link?
I need a visual aid for the paint guy to use when he gets my machine next week. He told me to do most of the prep work myself to defer some of the cost where do I start on removing the wood grain vinyl and paint? Title: I need a picture Post by: Skeleton Man on May 26, 2005, 03:10:34 pm Not mine, tho I very much wish it was:

Ok people, whats the best thing to use to remove the vinyl wood grain? The same metal striper that I'm going to remove the paint with? Title: I need a picture Post by: on May 26, 2005, 06:23:44 pm Dear Jasmine64,
I use a propane torch to heat it up with and then peel it off.Watch you don't burn yourself. Title: I need a picture Post by: Skeleton Man on May 26, 2005, 08:08:30 pm Is it the same vinyl finish you see on 70's style coffee tables and other furniture ?
Title: I need a picture Post by: halehouse on May 26, 2005, 08:52:52 pm I like the bottom grill silver/grey and no Spriteboy.
Title: I need a picture Post by: Skeleton Man on May 26, 2005, 09:19:11 pm That does look nicer.. I would never put a spriteboy on any machine.. actually looks nicer with no decals at all.. (apart from coke logo/"have a coke")
I really really want a V63, but nothing comes up in my area and shipping is out of the question due to cost.. Title: I need a picture Post by: johnieG on May 26, 2005, 09:25:33 pm you won't need a torch! it's much easier to use Paint stripper, that old vinal will peel right up & almost fall off by itself!. I use a brand called AirCraft paint stripper, follow all of the manufactures instructions,(no short cuts!) works for all old vinal decals too! , but remember, it does strip PAINT too! so I only use it on machines I'm stripping down anyway.
Title: I need a picture Post by: halehouse on May 26, 2005, 09:34:09 pm I like how you kept the white cabinet and have the front red. I haven't seen the bottom gold before. I kept the TGBWC on the side, but did it in the red. It should probably be Have a Coke on the side, but I liked the TGBWC better.
Title: I need a picture Post by: dr galaga on May 26, 2005, 09:51:53 pm Depending on how much grain is on the machine, a little is okay. I think I would rather have no wood grain, but my machine is not that bad.
Notice how it is just on the mid-section, instead of the bottom and the drink door. Plus it needs a style-star sign. Title: I need a picture Post by: joesquid on May 27, 2005, 01:04:16 am Generally the dimensions of the white field on each side of the machine is 18" top horizontal, 17" bottom horizontal, and 11 1/4 inches for each vertical.
Title: I need a picture Post by: jasmine64 on May 27, 2005, 08:23:57 am That's good to know. I hadn't thought about the measurements for the white field.
Looks like I have some work to do. I guess while the vending stack is out I'll reclean it and oil it well. This is the machine the wires were vandalized. I have a new harness, found out mine is the later version of the 63. It has 6 wires, the earlier one has 4 on the internal harness. The things you learn tracking down parts! Thanks everyone for the pics and advice. I also like the white cabinet and red front, think I'm going all red with white around the bottle door and it's surrounding area. Title: I need a picture Post by: loman4ec on May 27, 2005, 09:16:55 am Here is an origional machine that I had a while back. I like the early 63's. The red and gold/chrome looks so good.
Title: I need a picture Post by: jasmine64 on May 27, 2005, 09:58:25 am One more question, my coin entry trim plate is black can it be painted? It's aluminum right?

Mine is silver. You can get a gold one from Fun-Tronics for 24.00 (part 345 on page 49 of their catalog). Title: I need a picture Post by: jasmine64 on May 28, 2005, 03:19:35 pm Thanks wish I'd known that just placed an order with Steve.
As many times as I have looked at the book, never saw it. I wish he had a web page. Title: I need a picture Post by: jasmine64 on May 30, 2005, 11:29:27 am [/QUOTE]Ok people, whats the best thing to use to remove the vinyl wood grain? The same metal striper that I'm going to remove the paint with?
Quote Used a paint stripper on the vinyl. Let it sit on it for 30 minutes. Turned it kinda rubbery. Peeled off without a problem. Now on to the paint removal. |
