Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: BryanH on May 25, 2005, 07:08:31 pm Sent the seller of this Cavalier an email asking for model number or confirmation that it'll hold 12oz bottles. Answer that came back was 8oz bottles only. I looked around the machines section here at smc and couldn't find any cavaliers that were listed as only taking 8oz?
Anybody recognize whether this is a USS or CSS 64 or some other model? Are there 1960's slant shelve Cavalier models that only take 8oz bottles? Thanks! Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: Kilroy on May 25, 2005, 07:22:33 pm Bryan,
It looks like to me like a uss-64, Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think the USS-64 models will fit the 6 oz/new 8 oz bottles only Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: BryanH on May 25, 2005, 08:08:09 pm Kilroy - that's what is looked like to me also. And the machine section here says only 6.5oz bottles, but in this thread on CSS-64 Dan V said he has a 64 and stocks 12oz bottles in it.
Seller just said model marked on tag is CSS-8-64... Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: Skeleton Man on May 25, 2005, 09:14:15 pm That's a nice looking machine
Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: BryanH on May 25, 2005, 09:25:44 pm I bid $50 as I wasn't sure about being able to use it with my 12oz bottles. Didn't meet the reserve, so I'll follow-up offline with the seller and see what they'll take. Won't go much higher as it's a "Kito drive" (about 6 hours each way) to pickup. Can you say 'roadtrip'
Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: DanV on May 25, 2005, 09:36:43 pm A CSS takes 12 oz bottles. I just bought an IBC rootbeer out of one at an antique mall. The USS does cans and bottles. This one is a CSS. The big difference is that a CSS allows you to pull the bottle out from a little slot where the neck fits through, while a USS allows you to turn a round crank knob that tips either a can or a bottle into an empty space.
This picture is a CSS and I bet it is from 1971-1973 era Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: BryanH on May 25, 2005, 11:15:44 pm Thanks Dan - It is in fact a CSS-8-64 (according to the seller). Now that I know it'll take 12oz, I think I'll push a little harder.

I LOVE it!!! That cracked me up... but it is so true. My 6 hour trip today ended up being a 8 1/2 hour drive in reality. But it was still worth it. Thank goodness for audiobooks on my iPod. They make the ride SOOOO much easier and quicker. Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: Kevin C on May 26, 2005, 07:35:40 am Hey
I solved that drive to pick up coke machines. I sent my 16 year old son & one of his football buddies! Two high school boys on a road trip across the state of SC to pick up a Vendo 126. Kevin Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: BryanH on May 30, 2005, 05:59:01 pm
The reserve was $500!!! Obviously a disconnect between the seller and me (the only bidder). Told them good luck and call me if they decide to come back down to earth. Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: on May 30, 2005, 07:45:28 pm Totally delusional reserve. If it was a USS, maybe, but for a CSS in average condition, you're right to take a pass. They'll be calling you in about five days or so...
Title: Unknown cavalier in nv? Post by: on May 31, 2005, 12:11:15 pm I looked at that machine also. I am in Utah and had about the same 6 hour drive. My wife won't let me get another machine until I finish the USS 8-64 that I am working on. Mine looked almost exactly like that when I started. Glad to find out that the reserve was too high. $500...ouch
Hope they lower the price and give you a call. Cheers |
