Title: Mexican soda
Post by: dr galaga on May 23, 2005, 08:49:56 pm
I was doing the weekly shopping and was examining the new variety of salsa's that the store now has (just remodeled/ added on).  I was looking for the real stuff, not the usual stuff that's made in New York City (New York City?).  I noticed some liquid in glass bottles.  I just passed it off as the usual juices, but something made me bend down for a closer look.  They now carry Mexican soda (made with sugar) and they were on sale for 50 cents each.  Sooooo I had to pick some up, of course.  I got Apple, Lime, Grapefruit and Orange.
What are your thoughts about soda from Mexico (minus the popular US brands)?

Our supermarkets carry those, but I have never tried them.  I figure as long as I can get the brands I get now, I really have no reason to try the others.

I like the GOYA apple soda, very unique and unlike any USA soda

That's true. They do have different flavors.

Jarritos is good stuff.  Good looking bottle and the pina or pineapple as it's known up here is really top-shelf stuff. The Orange is kind of weird but the lime and grapefruit are pretty good. I not a sidral  mundet drinker, it reminds me of cheap apple juice that has been carbonated.

I tried the Apple Soda yesterday.  Not that bad.  I was expecting a cross between apple cider and Woodchuck Cider but it was lighter tasting.  I may get some again.  Haven't had time to try the Jarritos - maybe tomorrow.
