Title: How to remove scratches on coin trim / bezel?
Post by: BryanH on May 11, 2005, 11:20:21 pm
Should I be able to buff these scratches out or do I need to do something else?  Either way - what's the recommended process?

That piece is anodized aluminum. If I were you I would take it to a metal polisher and have them strip it and buff it for you. It would shine like chrome.

Josh is right, it will buff out. I have a 8" bench style buffer that would clean up those scratches

I finally bought a buffer/polisher, for paint finishing, but was wondering if it was worth giving it a try on the bezel?  If so, any recommendations on the type of pad and compound?

If it doesn't work, I'll pack it off to a pro, but wouldn't mind trying it myself if you guys think it might work.

Bryan,

Attempting to polish small parts with a portable grinder/polisher could be dangerous!
I recommend a bench motor with a polishing wheel.

Great catch Jim. If not deep scratches polishing by hand might work just fine.
