Title: Glasco cup vendor
Post by: MoonDawg on May 07, 2005, 07:28:57 pm
A couple came in the store today asking if I would be interested in a Coke machine. Round corner machine that dispenses cups. No guts, Grandpa made it into a closet. ??
Ok now I own it. A power cord lights it up.

Darn pic didn't show up. !$100.00 for a Glasco 600  cup vendor. NICE original cond. Nice paint and chrome. No vending just rare. Light on front looks in motion.

Glen,

Is it a soda machine or a syrup dispenser since you posted it here...
Take another photo and post it!

Glen,
Great score. I've found that if you don't "preview" a post with pics it seems to work better. Course it must be under the size limit as well. Looking forward to seeing the new toy!

Here are Glen's pics.
BTW, anyone see a cup dispenser on eBay recently?  I saw a cool looking one somewhere but cannot locate it now.  Maybe I saw it on some other site...it was also cool looking like Glen's.

Super Cool Machine their Glen. I have always wanted a cup dispenser to go with my fountain dispensers. I would say that is the right there with the Mills and Lyon cup vendors. I love the light-up sign. Very nice score.

Wow! It sure does look brand new!
It's perfect. Nice closet you got there. Heck you could turn it into a water closet! Just kidding.
I would have snatched that up right away too.
I really like the look of it.
$100 VERY well spent.

AC,
It's good to see the SMC Cali Chapter working well.....Still can't believe it though.....The North and the South, working so smoothly and no bickering about water and aquaducts....

Glen, that's an awesome find! Such a clean one...it's a shame that it has no guts, but still a great snag!!

Glen,
I'm keeping an eye out for a donor. That one deserves to be complete and working!!

AC thanks for the help.
You too Creighton.  A donor machine could be any cup dispenser I guess.   Plenty of room inside to re-configure the cup drop.   Then tanks and hoses.
Had this for a few days now and the neatest feature does not show up in a still photo.  As you walk past this lighted sign the arrows appear to be moving, both drawing attention to the two product buttons.  Awesome at night.

Glen,
I tried to find in the posts but wasn't someone wondering about value on a brown upright cup vendor not that long ago. Anybody remember? Don't think it was the same model but might work. Seems like there was "still sitting" or something in the post. Sorry my brain is mush.
We are all pulling for you!!

Might work.....

AC,

This looks like a Glasco G-400-U2.
Is there any possibilty of acquiring a full photo of the machine taken from the front but slightly to one side...?
It looks to be in good condition too!

Jim and Glen,
The machine is not in my possession although the owner is close by.  I'll see if i can get additional photos for SMC and see if it is a complete machine.  Any idea what this thing is worth if complete.  I doubt I could get it for 100 like the other one.  The owner is also a collector and said that this is a rare machine.  It is cool just for the light up but would be super cool if somebody could get it up and running.

This model is very scarce!
I have a photo but it's from a brochure and I thought since this machines is great shape, including an actual photo whould complement the Soda Machines Section...
Thanks for your time!

Man I love those. I used to love getting Cokes from those cup-drop machines. I loved the flavor and those little ice pellets. Yummmmm.

I was wondering how these cooled the drinks. Chilled tanks?  OK crushed ice dropped into the cup?  Forgot all about that.  Thanks Kito

They were cool but it was rare to find one that had the mix right.  I do think longingly for crushed ice in my drink though.  Nobody does that anymore.

I actually loved the mix ratio, but then they probably varied from machine to machine or model to model.
Most of the ones I used in the 1970s & 1980s also had a "No ice" button in case you didn't want it. But I loved the ice pellets. Up until a few years ago there used to be one at the Minneapolis/Saint Paul airport alongside all the modern machines. I doubt it's still there.

And last time I was at the "Great American History Theater" in downtown Saint Paul there was one still in operation. I have had a few Cokes there. I'll have to see if it is still there. But neither of them were as beautiful as your old ones.

I did like that these had the plexiglass door that would slowly close after the cup dropped and before the ice came showering down. Seems like the cups in those machines always fell slightly tipped at an angle, but somehow righted themselves due to the weight of the ice.
