Title: Price Changing Help needed for new guy.
Post by: todd62 on August 18, 2018, 08:52:48 am
Hi all,
I'm new to the vintage soda machine hobby and this great site. I have a problem I hope someone can help me with.
I have a 1962 Vendo H63B with this coin mech pictured, the model number is AS9420-807. I don't think it's original to my machine.
Anyway, the price was set for 40 cents and worked perfectly. Even the "USE EXACT CHANGE" light worked correct.
This morning I tried to change the price from 40 cents to 15 cents by repositioning the cams on the Price Cam Assembly. It didn't work and now the dimes just drop through down to the change box, and the "USE EXACT CHANGE" light doesn't come on either.
And foolish me I didn't mark where the cams were set for the 40 cents so I can't put it back to that price.
I was very careful when removing and setting the cams so I know nothing was damaged.
Can someone tell me how to set it for 15 cents. I assume it will set at 15 cents because the sticker on the side says 15 cents.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks very much, Todd

Todd,

Can you removed the slug rejector and re-post a close-up photo the area?
I may have a manual that may help...  Just need to be sure of your exact configuration...

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply. Here's a couple photos.

Push down on the Tan wheel that shows the current price & gently rotate it ( while still pushing downward) until the desired price is aligned with the indicator notch & release the wheel so it pops/snaps back up & latches into place and displays the new selected price, you are done.

I don't see the tan wheel.

I don't see the tan wheel.

It’s staring at you front dead center with the little numbers on it.

There's no numbers on that wheel, maybe they're worn off from age. If they are worn off, how would I know where to position the cams to set a 10 or 15 cent price?

The cams did show wear.
Would I be better to just buy a rebuilt S75-9800B Coin Unit? Advantages & disadvantages?
Thanks again, Todd

it's not likely the numbers are worn off unless you (someone) has sprayed the mech with a degreaser like disk-brake cleaner or something....If the numbers aren't showing it may be that the mech hasn't reset from the last vending cycle,  referring to the attached picture, push in on the solenoid's shaft (red arrow) until the numbers show at the indicator window, once the (previous set) vend price is showing now you can attempt to reset the price as outlined in the prior post.

johnieG, there's no numbers at all, only gear teeth all the way around. The same kind of teeth are on the other side and they mesh and lock into the adjacent cam wheel.

I did notice a 15 cents denomination on the side sticker; perhaps it's a fixed price coin mech...

Jim, I'm ok with it being set for 15 cents. How do I set it?
