Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: BryanH on April 16, 2005, 10:51:51 am I've been watching this one on eBaY. The seller sent me a couple of pics and it looks pretty complete except for the lock.
It's about a 6 hr drive for me so was looking for thoughts on it's type, value and condition. Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: petey64 on April 16, 2005, 10:55:38 am I was watching that as well, i was just going to ask the exact question the only problem would be how long i would stay in Vegas after i picked it up. But i will stay out of that bidding now.
Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: BryanH on April 17, 2005, 02:43:41 pm Bump... Any thoughts on the value?
Petey - keep watching... I'm not sure that I'm going to bid. Depends on what they're worth as I doubt that I'd keep it myself. Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: BrianB on April 17, 2005, 06:23:01 pm Gentleman! That appears to be one of early versions of the Vendo V-144. It was probably produced between 1950 and 1954. An average machine goes for around $200.
Jeff Walters book also notes that it weighs in at around 450 lbs. and is 77 3/4" H x 33 1/2" W x 18" D. It also pre-cools 87 bottles and can handle up to the ubiquitous "king" size bottles! Maybe you guys, or whoever wins the auction could turn it into a mini-vacation! A perfect excuse to go to Vegas! Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: BryanH on April 19, 2005, 12:23:47 am Brian - thanks.
Petey - I'm gonna pass. To far to go for limited opportunity. Good luck. Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: petey64 on April 19, 2005, 03:27:01 pm I think i am going to pass on it as well, i'd look pretty silly anyway going from casino to casino with that in the back of the truck.

I have the Vendo 144E, the version with the textured aluminum plate on the front. The one listed on ebay is a Vendo 144A, made prior to 1956. I loved restoring mine but it was definitely a labor of love; they're just too freakin' big to be valuable. I picked mine up in my mini-van (darn versatile critters) by dropping all the seats (except mine). I was praying all the way home that no idiot would cut me off and force me to slam on the brakes. Can you say "torpedoes away!!!" Of course the consolation would be I'd probably kill said idiot with the coke machine...wouldn't that be fun to explain to the state trooper? Anyway, if you got questions concerning them thar' big bohemoths, just give a yell! Title: Vendo - xv1448? Post by: on April 21, 2005, 08:58:01 am Eric (a.k.a. "JoeSquid") and I are bloodbrothers because I have the V-144E's cousin, the V-216MD. They are about 70% identical. A shout out to my brutha'!
