Title: Vendo 220-125
Post by: fireguyfire on April 01, 2017, 08:00:49 pm
Hi gents;
  Today I picked up a wood grain vendo 220-125 which is set up for cans. The machine works good, has a few minor cosmetic issues that I will sort out, and was absolutely filthy inside.
After a full day of cleaning the machine looks surprisingly new inside, and the reason I went after one of these machines is that I wanted a can dispenser that was cheap and would have a retro look to fill with pop for the kids, visitors, etc.

I have 2 questions I need help with.

1) the coin mech works good and is set up for loonies (obviously I live in Canada). I would like to bypass the coin mech and have the machine dispense cans at the punch of the buttons, no money required. Can anyone help me out with making this happen?

2) This machine could be converted to bottles if wanted, and came with a bottle cap opener in the door. Mine is missing, so I have a wood grained hole where it should go. Looks kind of ratty without the opener and the chrome surround in the opening for sure.
Can anyone suggest where I can find a replacement bottle opener for this machine?

Welcome to the SMC  forum.  :happydrinkers: There are a lot of knowledgeable collectors on here who can help you with questions.  I don't know much about that machine but if it uses the Coinco 9300 type of mech, I would think these instructions would get you the desired results.

I have a Cavalier USS 64 and the switch is located such that it is activated by the coin return lever.

Pictures would also help people give you ideas of what  would work for that machine. Good luck!

Tim;
  As requested here is a couple of photos.
One of my coin mech that I would like to enable to dispense free cans, and the type of bottle opener and bezel I will need for my door.

What size is the bottle opener hole?  I have some odd ball opener bezels that may fit ( maybe)

The opening is 2" x 3 1/4"
If you have one laying around that would fit that would be great!

That looks like an MEI 6800. You can rewire the pigtail to leave the relay set contacted but it will eventually buzz and get hot from staying energized. As far as I know you can not set it to $0.00 and have it trigger vend. Would be nice. You would need to replace the coin mech with a temporary switch like the instructions linked above. It works, I've used similar instructions to verify my machine functionality. If you have an exact change lamp, you could replace it with a switch bezel and a momentary push button for "free credit".
