Title: Family reunited with old cash register Post by: tkaz on September 03, 2016, 11:12:06 pm This was a neat story that came up this week, my sister was contacted randomly on Facebook about an old cash register with a Woodward's Chevrolet decal on it. Turn's out it was a part of my wife's family (Kate vs. Katie) but anyways, this guy had purchased this old National register from an old Irish pub in Boston that had gone out of business, it had sat in the window on display for years. The decal is from the dealership of the great grandfather of my wife, who sold the Chevy dealership in the mid-50's before moving it to NH and abruptly passing away. Not much is left or know about his old shop, so finding these items are few and far between. This guy is a collector and was more than happy to find the story behind the item and reach out to us. He sold it to me for a very fair price and fortunately my brother in law (the great grandson) is local and can pickup. The register is a 1926, which fits the timeframe at which the dealership came to be.
There are still some good people and stories out there, we had a lot of joy come out of this find, hopefully more people get to see stuff like this. Title: Re: Family reunited with old cash register Post by: Ross on September 03, 2016, 11:41:32 pm Great story.

How did the guy link the register to your wife? I mean, how did he know she was a person to track down? Title: Re: Family reunited with old cash register Post by: collecture on September 04, 2016, 11:05:19 am That's so very cool!

He was able to find my grandfather-in-laws obituary which listed my wife on there, my sister still has her maiden name and my wife and her are both Kate's. I have a pretty unique last name so there's only a few of us out there, he just messaged on FaceBook and we went from there.
