Title: Crossing guard frame
Post by: cohammer on July 21, 2016, 07:14:39 pm
Have had the front of my policemen hanging on wall for a while but finally found an original back to go with it . As you can see there is an outline of frame that was between front and back but I an not sure what to make it out of . Has any one had one apart and seen the inside ? 1 inch angle or something must have been there . Any help apreachiated I would like to get it on my base . Of course the base has an inch and a half thread .

I actually never knew there was a structured frame so to speak inside of these... I always thought just a pole?
sorry no help but curious as to what others would say..

I have one, but not really willing to take it apart... sorry

I always thought it was only the pipe but after seeing the outline inside the back of this one I thought it may be a short piece of pipe with a frame welded on top . Think I will take the easy way out and try a piece of pipe . I believe that if it were in use like they did back in the day where they rolled them back and forth into the school yard it would have to had something inside there to keep the sign from rotating on base when moved .

For display purposes... a pole will work just fine...

It has been a few years, but the pipe thread is like a machine screw (straight) and not tapered like a plumbing pipe.
