Title: I got juked! Post by: collecture on July 15, 2016, 12:47:22 am Not as old as most of you guys prefer, but I like it! It's a 1972 Wurlitzer 3600 Superstar.
I've gotten it to play selections in sequence, but it has go a couple of minor (I think) issues. 1. After the last selection plays, the carousel continues around. I would think it should stop revolving. 2. I think the coin unit has been bypassed and I would like it to take coins eventually. I got a Service Manual off the web. Would like to get a User Manual too - if there is such a thing? To be honest though, I haven't really looked yet. There are a couple of things I haven't found any information on. Schematics were in the plastic sleeve on the inside of the cabinet, so that should help with any wiring issues. The bottom front panel comes totally off for easy access. The whole juke assembly slides forward and lifts up, which makes it easy to work on. It appears that each assembly can be easily removed (Tone Arm, Turntable, etc.), but I am still poking around as it is the first juke I've ever owned. Holds 100 45's - Stereo - will play the 33RPM and 45RPM discs. It's clean inside too. Paid $225 for it and it had 100 45's from the 50's - 70's inside. Maybe some of you juke guys can relay some possible concerns or areas I should look at? Title: Re: I got juked! Post by: HowDueYouDue on July 15, 2016, 05:56:46 pm Congrats! I like the lava lamp like look of the red on the front

I've had fun poking around and learning how a juke works. It really just needed a good cleaning! The Overide Switch Assembly was really gunked up and that is why the carousel kept spinning continuously. I refurbished the Turntable, Tone Arm and Overide Switch Assembly. The juke now moves to the selection and plays the 45, then returns the 45 and moves into home position. One issue I'm having is the Tone Arm lowers and then jumps in about 1/4" so it misses the first of each song. I've got all the adjustments spot on with the exception of the counterweight balance adjustment. The manual says to have a gram scale so as to adjust the proper tone arm weight - I do not have one. I have moved the weights forward and back and in-between, but it still skips in. I think it is the needle, so I ordered a new one for $12. Hopefully that will solve my issue! |
