Title: Strange substance on Can delivery chute Selectivend 1A
Post by: Jcarter168 on July 11, 2016, 09:32:19 pm
Is anybody familiar with the substance that is on the can chute on my Selectivend 1A Dr. Pepper machine?  I took a piece of tape off and noticed a chrome like finish underneath, then I started cleaning it with water and noticed that the top coat started to come off but not easily.  If you get it wet and scratch it with your fingernail it comes off easily.  The coating covers the entire metal piece (except where I scratched it off or it was removed from wear).  I wonder is it some type of protective coating?   It is somewhat thick as you can feel it with your fingernail.  Has anybody seen this before?  Anyone out there with the same machine can verify what theirs looks like?

Maube just some old yellowed wax/polish, try some "00" steel wool & rubbing alcohol, it wont scratch the chome at all, I've also use white wall tire cleaner, its called " blech-white" just spray the steel wool, not the painted surfaces of the machine as it can dull the paint, wipe/rinse after with a water wetted cloth

Thanks Johnie, that is the best (and only) answer I've gotten so far so I'll go with it.

I concur. Seen this sort of material in the past, and the chrome polishes right up.
