Title: Penny Scale
Post by: Slapshot42 on June 02, 2016, 01:56:12 pm
Picked this 2 Cent Penny Scale over the long weekend.  It was lurking on Craigslist about 10 minutes from my house.

Found this last picture when I opened it up after being locked for many years.  It was at old closed down Boy Scout building ...

Sweet. Have seen a few two cent gumball/candy machines; never seen a two cent scale. Congrats

That's really cool. I am big in Scouts and that's an added bonus.

That is a nice original looking American. I had several through out the years. I think penny scales is under rated. My Watling Small Guesser gets used on a daily basis.

No expert here but after you weigh in a fortune slides in a view glass right about your weight..

We had a similar American in my dad's drugstore.  We emptied it about once a year and generally rolled up about $75 in pennies each time.  I have ont that is similar but not in as good of shape.

I think Bill Berning (Penny scales .com ) still rents out scales to business. I think that's what his flyers said when I bought some parts from him last year . He was very helpful when I redone a set for my son , he had all the parts and even bought a better original head and mirror to go on mine.

I reached out to him this past April to see if he had any diagrams for a Toledo penny scale I picked up and never heard back. Not sure if still in business?
