Title: Latest acquisitions Post by: Gmari2 on March 27, 2016, 11:02:25 pm Latest acquisitions, my son and I picked up an extremely nice Glascock Standard cooler ( ok I know it's not technically a machine) in Roanoke, VA. Couldn't resist a deal on a very nice untouched Vendorlator 27 on the stand. Unfortunately it's 3000 miles away in California. Fortunately #1 daughter lives 4 hrs from its location and will pick it up for me. Going to Norfolk this weekend for a wedding. My old friend is giving me back the Vendo 27 with solid door I gave him 30 years ago. I will now have 3 of those plus a 72. Time to stop until the next deal

If you ever want to part with your 72, let me know. Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: davethebirdman on March 28, 2016, 04:22:42 am I was thinking Hoarder too... Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: Jim on March 28, 2016, 06:46:43 am Remember from a previous post, it's not "hoarding" if it's "cool" stuff ! ! !
Congrats on the new additions ! ! ! Also, I believe you mean a VMC 27 Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: Gmari2 on March 28, 2016, 07:10:12 am Hoarder is right. Can't seem to part with anything. I did indeed misspeaks. The tabletop is the Vendorlator 27 the others are VMC 33's.

Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: HowDueYouDue on March 28, 2016, 07:23:39 pm Congrats. Keep up the good work
Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: Gmari2 on March 28, 2016, 07:30:29 pm No. Actually the "keep up the good work" has to stop. At my age (just turned 60) it's time to start eliminating such things from ones life. Not increasing. Almost got caught in another "collection" two months ago when I obtained a stack of 78 RPM records. Went to some estate sales and now have an accumulation of 1000 such recordings. That's not a collection it's an accumulation. A collection has a purpose. An accumulation is random. I won;t be adding to the 78 accumulation. What else do you folks collect?
Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: ajf5577 on March 28, 2016, 08:08:26 pm I have recently narrowed my collecting down to soda related machines, picnic coolers and wall mount bottle openers.
I just came across a box of old 78 records in my cleaning. I'll make you a good deal! Plus, do you have a Victrola to play them on? There are a couple here. Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: Eric on March 28, 2016, 08:52:05 pm Back when I was in college.. I worked at a men's clothing store and had to wear a tie... I would watch "Night Court" with Harry Anderson who wore the crazy wild ties of the 1940s..
so I started collecting 1940/50s neckties... I had 500 at one time.. I just have around 100 now.. love them... Hard to find now in the wild as that generation is all but gone (other than ebay) Met some great men back then when I ran ads and bought them... one gentleman was at Pearl Harbor while it was being bombed... another was a door to door brush salesman. Some amazing stories... But mainly soda and ice cream/soda fountain items. Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: BrianS on March 28, 2016, 10:45:32 pm I collect mostly soda stuff but an through an odd turn of events I started collecting 60s bobbleheads with my teenage son a couple years ago. Fun items to search for and they don't take up a lot of room to display. I think my wife likes them because some day he will go off on his own and they will leave the house with him.
Title: Re: Latest acquisitions Post by: Gmari2 on March 29, 2016, 04:24:04 am Thanks for the offer of the 78s. I"ll pass. We have 3 Jukes that play 78s. To my NJ brethren, I have a 49 Seeburg M100-A that I'll sell for what I have into it $595. Doesn't work yet.
