Title: Nuka Cola Machine
Post by: saturnkk on March 23, 2016, 08:58:27 am
I know that some folks delve into "Fantasy" type soda machines.  I am a big Fallout video game fan and love the idea of having a Fallout styled Nuka Cola machine in my Basement Arcade.  I only saw one thread relating to this from alomost 3 years ago...

Has anyone seen or is aware of some completed examples?  This seems like a fun Spring project for me!

Thanks!!

your best bet would be to get a Square top vendor like a Vendo 56 or Cav 64 or Vendo 63 and then restore it into whatever theme you want.
these machines typically have a light up sign that you could have a sign shop make your graphics, and you could paint up the cabinet in any color scheme you want.
many collectors have made "theme" machines, some sports, other brands, beer, etc... so one of the machines listed above would serve your purpose well and can be found fairly easily for around 300-500.

Thanks but I think I really want that more retro rounded look...

Wonder if there is a way you could make a facade to put over a square top to look like it

Maybe but I am trying to keep it manageable...

Me neither but it looks like the concept has been around for a while.

At least since Fallout 3 (video game) came out...

A Vendo 39 or a Vendo 80 would probably be the two round tops that would be most affordable for a project like this.

Interesting idea!

Do either of those serve multiple flavors or larger than 8oz bottles?  The bonus is that if it is dinged, dented, faded, rusty or otherwise worn that is a bonus!

They are fantasy machines. You can make one out of whatever machine that you want.
You can use a fairly new Dixie Narco machine and vend 16 oz glass or 20 oz plastic bottles if you like.
All you'll do is maybe change the paint job and the graphics.

True, but new machines do not have that retro art deco look either.

39's and 80's only vend 6 oz (12oz for something that would vend Pepsi) you can use an 81 to vend larger than 8 oz, but there goes your budget.
Some of the round tops could possibly be modified to vend modern 20 oz plastic bottles.

I think i just need it to handle 12oz glass...  8oz is too limiting (basically just coke, diet coke, coke zero, sprite, champagne, wine and kahlua mudslides)

There are vending drums for the Vendo 39 that can handle 12 oz. glass.  You can buy one from Fun-Tronics.

Or if you are lucky, you can find a machine that has one.

I don't like the look of them, but occasionally a V-39 with the Selectavend slant shelf conversion shows up.  Has the round corners, but you lose the embossing.  Does give you the 12 oz multiflavor option though

That looks like a good one potentially if I can find one around.  I dont want embossing since I would have to remove it anyway...

I would just find a cheap generic Ideal 55 or Glasco 50.  Multi Vend and Coin Operated

That is one that I have never seen. I had to look it up. If someone had one, the embossing could be added.
Along the lines of a " likeable" Frankenstein
