Well broke out the boxes and started working on the internal parts couple weeks ago, most of the parts were coated in a silver paint, when I removed the paint, the galvanized finish was in pretty good shape considering the age. I was going to re-paint all the parts originally, but now decided to just clear coat the original metal, love how the galvanized looks with the touch of wear on it. ill try to get a couple pics up of the progress so far, also trying to get a bunch loaded to a flickr album .... as always any suggestions or comments would always be helpful as I progress in this project  

few more pics, I was able to get new shelf welded into cabinet today thanks to the weather..

might help if I posted a couple of before pics since I don't have my old imagevent account anymore....

tricky part for me since I'm not an expert, is banging that lip by the cap catcher back to somewhat normal, looks like someone attempted to break into machine from there and side by lock and I'm thinking of using an epoxy as a filler (as little as possible), instead of a body filler, was thinking someone goes to use bottle opener... hits the lip and chips off...   would love to just cut in a new lip if anyone knows where to get one.... let me know if anyone else has a better idea with that...Thanks

I would agree the galvanized looks much better then silver paint. I always thought the silver paint looks like a cheap restoration job. Keep up the good work!

May want to have a body guy take a look at the lip around that opening.. maybe get an estimate for just the bodywork for that area...
such a nice model and machine you may want to put the money in that area and have that done right.  There are guys out there that
can make that look like there was nothing ever wrong there... would be worth it if you can swing it... at least find out what it would cost.

well worked that lip out....took awhile. almost flattened out bottom half... used blocks of wood and small chisels to work the lip back into place, only had to use a small amount of filler on the lower half of lip where it wont be affected by anyone using the cap catcher

I did por15 the shelves top and bottom to prevent future rusting.... have a little more details to work on this morning and fresh coat of primer on her, if all goes well she will have her new paint on her this afternoon

last week when I was working on cabinet, went ahead and welded new t-nuts to bottom, two of the originals were frozen and one missing all together

well got the white on... wanted to get the lettering done... so painted that and got it out of the way. going to start all red parts

think i did a pretty good job on side lettering....         just kidding...... was playing around with photoshop while having lunch  :laugh:

well  have cabinet, some small pieces and main door done, was running little low on red paint so played it safe and waited on coin door....
     (oh and i touched up side lettering lol)

thanks, wasn't that fast, I'm no expert so takes me a lot longer, had day planned out, took advantage of a unseasonably warm day, glad today is warm also so I can get the coin door done. wanted to have her completely painted yesterday, cleared and somewhat dry so I could bring it inside at night,  took longer than I expected to get embossed lettering painted and lining up those vinyl decals on side without harming the white basecoat, that held me up from clearcoating until later in the afternoon, want to get everything "factory" under clear, if I add anything "aftermarket" it will be on top of it, this way I or a future owner can change it up if wanted. and yeah, I love the view back there, old farm land around here, my neighbor has a huge field behind my property, so with the mountains really adds to it, anytime I take pictures of things outside, I make sure that's the background  :smile:
