In reading the ad and looking at the pictures it's a little confusing. So there are 2 embossed Pepsi, a Coke B and D, and are the 7up and RC  generic?

Very cool.  Just how rare is that RC Generic?   I know about the embossed one, but never seen this one expect for that picture on the vendo production line from back in the day.

Just 1 embossed Pepsi. 2 Coke and 3 generic.

As much as it would make this guy's life easier, no one will buy the whole lot from him at his price.
He will do much better listing each one individually.

I agree with Glen.  If you put an average value of 3k on each machine (some higher, some lower), 18k for all 6 is the best he should hope for. 26k is 8k too much IMO.

I agree.....It would be neat to pair that generic DP machine with the embossed DP version though.

Slider Bob - why don't you buy at his price then I'll give you 3K apiece.

Needless to say these are 6 collectible machines. I agree that things are better sold by the each rather than in a lot or group. I think this might be an exception where a restorer/collector might pay a premium on the lot because he is getting 6 machines at once. I would break them down like this. I think these numbers are fairly real, maybe if anything a tad high:

Generic RC 4500
Generic 7UP 4300
Generic Blue 4000
Pepsi 81 3800
Coke B 3000
Coke D 3000

Total 22,600. This would be on a very good day if everything lined up perfect.

I'm puzzled by such a small 7up logo used, also it's on a generic door which has no VMC dimple!   One of a kind?

Glen

I to am perplexed by the 7 up like you said no embossing for the VMC Tag . And I looked really close around the ID Tag . It's strange but looks like it's been on there . Bob and I really look it over an was comparing it to ours

Early VMC Generic ?

Here's the story... Seller is well versed in the hobby and had 100+ machines at one time. This is the end of the collection.

The 7up is actually a generic VENDO door with a Large mech and a VMC Bezel. It is not embossed. Seller says that it was a prototype and has some type of inner door inside the coin door. Hence the odd serial plate. Also because it is Vendo door, no VMC stamped embossing at the bottom. I would love to see what's behind the door liner in that one.

He's at 22k private sale for the group but if he is not able to sell the group, then he'll entertain offers. Says that he has an offer north of 4500 for the prototype and says that because Generic 81's are so rare in Florida (every there rusts because of humidity) that they sell for 3800-4000. He does not know if any of them cool. I guess that means, figure that they don't.

This is an old friend of mine for many years and has had some cool machine over the years ! ! !
He's the first person I've know to have every 81 manufactured...  I haven't been to his house in over a year & 1/2...
He's a pretty straight shooter but knows what he has...
I guess I have to stop by again and see what else he may be selling...

Jim, you could actually help both him, and us .....quite a bit!
Looks like more than a few members here would consider buying from his collection of 81's
if the deal were made outside of E-bay!
If he is not yet a member of SMC, please bring him in..............we want to meet the man! :happydrinkers:

Neither did the seller... It was a "free adverting" posting on FeeBay
