Title: Cool Auction
Post by: Ben on February 06, 2016, 10:52:17 pm
I'm sure I can't afford anything at this auction, but I may have to go anyway. About 200 miles, but man, so much cool stuff.

I didn't make it to this auction, but I did get to check out some of it online. They went 12 hours straight today, and still have more online and allot more on site.  I couldn't force myself to bid on anything (18% online fee), but here are a few of the buys. You can go to the website and see what everything sold for.

I think some people got some pretty good buys looking at the prices. I don't know the quality or age of the restorations, but considering the average machine restoration of $4,000, not counting buying the machine, looks like there should be some happy collectors from the auction. And wow what a gorgeous 7up 81!

A few more examples:   .. and even more Petroliana than Coke.  The price of signs blows me away.

It dismays me that people still pay top dollar for the " airline " Coca Cola coolers. They are not rare, but they bring the price.

The Salesmanship sample cooler sure was a bargain. Rick Dale said they're worth over $4,000.00  :wow:

All sarcasm aside, it did look like some cool stuff.

I was wondering if anyone from this group might be bidding. Glad to hear it went to a friend.

Agreed. Curious to know who paid over $225 for a Carousel gumball machine

I bought that exact same machine at a garage sale for $5.00!  I would say $225 is quite strong price wise!
