Title: Compressor on USS-8-64
Post by: dylaninwv on January 17, 2016, 01:18:23 pm
Hey all, have a Cavalier uss-8-64 with original compressor. My hvac/cooling guy wants to give it a once over, check output, checking coolant levels, etc. Question is, is there some port on the compressor that he can hook up to to check the r-12 coolant level/pressure?

        It has no service port.
One should preferably be soldered on the line, rather than using the clamp-on style fill valve.

Yep, I agree, he'd have to install a temporary type service valve to recover the R12 & then install a brazed on permanent valve & test for leaks then recharge the system , I'd have him install a filter/dryer while he has the system opened too as these old units never had one to begin with.
