Title: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: ClassicCokeLover on January 13, 2016, 05:18:15 pm I have this Hot Nut Machine and need a lock and key for it. I have seen this go by 2 different names online, Regal and Silver King. Which is correct? The lamp and heater both work perfectly.

Post by: hacksaw707 on January 13, 2016, 06:30:41 pm I picked one of those up last year new in box, wrapped in news print from 1955. It was labeled Silver King. The guy I got it from found 8 of these in a basement all new in boxes, never opened. He also found 6-8 duck hunt penny gum machines some new in box and some assembled with the gumballs, but never put into use: also made by Silver King!

Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: Troy S on January 13, 2016, 08:10:02 pm Your machine is a Regal Hot Nut not a Silver King. Regal made a plastic red top, Silver King was glass. You can tell a Regal from a Silver King by the chute flap. Nice machine!
Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: hacksaw707 on January 13, 2016, 08:13:32 pm Yeah it took me two weeks to decide if I should open it or keep it sealed, the wife finally put her foot down. So now we enjoy looking at everyday! I should of bought two :darn:
Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: ajf5577 on January 13, 2016, 08:15:04 pm The lock and key are the same for both, aren't they?
Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: HowDueYouDue on January 13, 2016, 09:34:10 pm Congrats. Definitely try roger at crow river.
Regal = thank you on chute, Silver King = try some Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: hacksaw707 on January 13, 2016, 10:57:55 pm Congrats. Definitely try roger at crow river. Regal = thank you on chute, Silver King = try some Good info on the chute, after looking closer at mine I see the king chute is also more egg shaped and the regal is rectangular. FYI on a side note, my warmer was boxed without any top, the glass tops were shipped in a different box all together; I'm guessing these were accessories like the Dixie cup holder that were also available. Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: Creighton on January 13, 2016, 11:04:13 pm Thanks Troy S. good info to know.

Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: ClassicCokeLover on January 14, 2016, 08:18:25 am Ya, I like the Dixie cup holders on these. I wonder how much metal people ingested back in those days from the pot metal internals on these. Not the best material for food handling, but back in those days they didn't know what we know today.
I like the blinking light idea on this. It surely attracted people to the machine for a purchase. I checked the warmer with a digital temp gun. My gun is used for refrigeration, but has a high temp reading at 80 degrees. The warmer hit that easily within moments. Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? That one I believe is from the 1930's. I've seen the hob nail top versions described as being from the period. Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: genudoc on February 05, 2016, 12:13:28 pm that looks like a regal
The chutes differ with regal being more flat and not curved Title: Re: Hot Nut Machine 1940's ??? Post by: HowDueYouDue on February 11, 2016, 11:24:39 am Here's an SK with all the bells and whistles up for sale
