Title: DuGrenier two tone
Post by: Larry on October 28, 2015, 07:56:50 am
I'm having my DuGrenier painted and I really liked the blue machine that I found on the net.  Then I saw someones machine on here in green and liked that too.  Just curious what the rest of the Soda-machines.com community think.

I like the green.....looks more "vintage" to me.  I'm sure it will look good in whatever color you choose.

Agree on the green...it does look more vintage that way.

Of course I voted for the portugue green. At first glance I was like wow that look just like mine.

I went with the grey only because I personally don't like the blue or the green in any shade for a candy machine.

When I think of Candy, I think of vibrant colours like orange, red, yellow etc..... something that makes a kid or the kid in me notice that there is a candy machine!

I'm sure it will look good in any colour when done right,.... but I like loud colours for candy machines.

I favor the blue, just because it's my favorite color and green is actually the color I like the least in life, but it looks great in the green.  I like it because it blends in well with each other.  Not loud at all.  Seth (sc1101), I think that's your name, could you post a picture of yours with more light on it.  I want to see it brighter if possible.

As far as candy machines go, I remember them being dull in color, like this grey one or hammered green.  The only ones that are real bright were ones we all did.  I made my Stoner Jr. yellow.  It looks nice, but I want something a little less flashy.  Still partial to blue, but I think this green is starting to grow on me like a fungus.

Bonovox I found this one on the Soda site that has bright colors.  I believe Curtis did this one.  No offense to him, but it's too loud for me.  I'm guessing it was done for Jeff Wolf.  I thought you might like it.

John, no hammer tone.

Yeah, the hot pink doesn't quite do it for me....

I think of a pack of Life Savers.... those kind of colours.  Pink candy is not my first choice.

Out of the two I like the 2 tone green one... would be killer in the hammertone finish.
That is a great candy machine.

I'll try to get you a picture tonight. Not sure if the pic will come out any brighter in my basement but I will try. That is the original paint color for sure. It was covered in so much dirt and grit it almost looked brown when I bought it.

Thanks Seth.

Here's a brochure that I found on the net years ago and it showed it in I believe five colors.  Doesn't mention two tone.  I wonder if that was an option.

For an extra six dollars you can get a stand.

I like either blue or green. That grey sure brings back memories. We had quite a few Stoner Candy Machines in the 70's with that grey hammer tone. Not that it would look good in your living room like the other colors mentioned.......
