Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on March 23, 2005, 03:18:32 pm Hello
I just got my first call on my trader newspaper add. I thought it would interesting to post the little bit of information I received from the caller here & maybe you guys could help with the ID. Plus when I get to look at the machine we can see who the winner is. So here is the description 1951 Red round top coke machine. Raised letters saying Coke & 5 cents. The machine has a round drum on the inside. The coin changer is set for 5 cents & you lift a brown door on the right upper front- lifting the door cause the inner round drum to rotate. The lady said that she has the machine at her parents house & her parents want her to get it out. She said her father would not let her plug in the old coke machine because it was old & it may cause a fire. She also said that she has a huge collection of Coca-Cola items that she had been collecting for about 20 years & that she needs to get rid of. She asked if I also wanted the coke items. The lady will get me some pictures of the machine & her coke items. I told her that I was not interested in the other coke items but some of my friends may be. I called her back to ask some additional questions on the coke machine & she said she thought it was a Vendo brand. So any ideas? This could be a fun game. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. I think it kind of sounds like a Vendo 83. Any other ideas? Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: MoonDawg on March 23, 2005, 03:27:26 pm It's a Vendo 83 and I'd be interested in the Coke Items.
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on March 23, 2005, 03:32:29 pm I agree.

I think you guys are correct with V83. So we have a none operational V-83. How much should I offer? $200 Kevin The picture came from Colamachines.com Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Eric on March 23, 2005, 03:43:43 pm Yep .... 83.... Good score for a first call and it's a round top!
Post a picture if you get it! Congrats! Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Eric on March 23, 2005, 03:45:40 pm Careful not to pass on the “coke stuff” could be some killer signs, cooler or a dispenser.....
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on March 23, 2005, 03:50:49 pm Kito bought a V-83 for 61$ on Ebay - lucky Guy!
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on March 23, 2005, 04:00:22 pm Hello
Is there a real market for the coke stuff? She did say she had some signs & such. Does nothing for me but I guess I could turn it but I dont want to get stuck with a bunch of crap. I will let you all know. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on March 23, 2005, 04:29:56 pm I knew it was a V83 too, because that is what I just bought on eBay the other day. Oh, lars just said that.
Do you guys know what size bottles can go in the V83's honeycomb? Is it just the tiny 6 1/2 oz. and 8 oz. sizes or can 10 oz. fit too? I'm guessing just the tiny guys. I would be interested in the other Coke stuff too. There's a good market for Coke stuff as long as it isn't modern reproduced cr*p and tin boxes. I am so sick of sifting through all the Coke tin boxes, radios, napkin holders, salt&pepper shakers and ornaments on eBay. Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: sodaworks on March 23, 2005, 04:52:16 pm I would also be interested in the coke stuff. Terry

If I do get this machine I guess I can load it with small bud, bud light & corona. Then it will be a luck of the vend on what you get. I may just clean up & sell Kevin Hey I just made 250th post & I am a big 10 cent member!!!! Title: Play the what is it game. yea, only the little bottles will fit, there is an outfit that makes a modified drum for a Vendo V39 that will accept 12oz. bottles, but not for the V83, (not enough cabinet depth), cornhuskers signs I believe... OH! and I just Bumped into a Big Vendo V126 & a Cavalier CS80 today on the road in Flint, this guy also had a bunch of Coke collectables stuff, 80% junk, but a nice 30's display rack for $200.00 say's "6 for 25-cents", & "take home a 6-pack" he had a 60's menu board, (lightup) 75.00 & a couple of picnic coolers (cavaliers), oh & he want's way too much for the V126 ($350) & the CS80 $($500) & the usual Coke "Krap" tins, boxes, repro-signs...etc. say's he's moving & not taking it with him...we''l see how low he'll go closer to moving day! Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on March 23, 2005, 11:00:25 pm johnieG,
He didn't have a Coke case rack that says something like "Return Bottles Here" did he? I really want one badly. But I don't want a "Take home...". I want a "Return Bottles Here". Let me know. Thanks, ~M Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Eric on March 24, 2005, 08:35:06 am Hey easy on the reproduction stuff! I reproduce sign for Coca-Cola and other stuff.
I use original signs for size and do the art work myself. All made here in the good ol' USA Quality! Check my stuff out at www.soda-signs.com Eric Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on March 24, 2005, 09:09:06 am Hello
Just like you guys have said in the past it is the thrill of the chase that makes this hobby so addicting. I hope my cell phone will start ringing more with the owner of a unwanted soda machine calling me. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: johnieG on March 24, 2005, 09:23:42 am
I assume you mean a stand-alone (not attached to the machine) empties rack with the sign on top, right? the one he has is for displaying six-pack's of coke in the old wooden/metal carriers, he's got a crate-fuul of old refillable bottles too, 6oz. size... Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: johnieG on March 24, 2005, 09:26:22 am
No insult intended Eric, Ive seen your stuff & it is nice, I'm talking about Flea-market/Walmart crud, made in china knock-off stuff. Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on March 24, 2005, 09:43:58 am
That is correct, I mean a stand-alone (not attached to the machine) empties rack with the sign on top, for collecting empties in the old wooden case carriers. I just want it to sit next to my Coke machine in my gameroom so that guests can put their empties there. Just like this one (or similar); This one was on eBay last week, but the bidding went beyond what I could afford. Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: BrianB on March 24, 2005, 01:12:15 pm What's with all of this Coke crud....... Just kidding Kito! Those racks are awesome. I'm actually looking for one for to sit next to my Pepsi Machine. Then I guess I'll look for one for my Cav 55D too! Coke, Pepsi, it's all the same to me!

Lets play the game again. Here is the second call I just got. 50's Round top Vendo coke machine that will hold the small bottles, The bottles are stacked in a moving belt. You crank a silver handle & the bottle comes out the bottom. Has the orginal cord & has not plugged it in to see if it works. Wants to get his money out of it & wants $750 for it. This thing sounds like a Cavalier 27 or 51. Any other ideas? Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: sodaworks on March 25, 2005, 07:09:57 pm 51
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Eric on March 25, 2005, 07:22:52 pm Cav. 51 is the only one that has a belt that I know of.... Are there any others?.....
Not a bad price either (if it's solid) Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on March 30, 2005, 04:57:33 pm Hello
Call # 3 Pepsi square with lift up top & the rack is missing. I went to look at it & the machine turned out to be an Ideal Pepsi slider that did not work & was in fair to poor condition. I offered the lady $25 to haul it away & she wanted $50. I told that my final offer was $35 & call me back if she changed her mind. I think the unit would work if the fan motors were changed based on the owners description of the problem. If the slider had the rack or the coin changer I would have given her the $50 but at this point I did not need another garage closet queen. If someone wants it let me know & I will go back to get it. I am going to look at the Cavalier 51 machine this weekend. He wants $750 for it but I am not going to offer that. I was thinking maybe $400. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. That's why I ended up getting a Pepsi one! Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: johnieG on March 30, 2005, 09:13:42 pm
Yea, the Delf Triple used a simular smaller "belt's" to lift the bottles up to their respective chutes....for what it's worth... Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: loman4ec on March 30, 2005, 10:02:04 pm I had a guy call me with two Vendo 110's in nice shape one is a free vend model. They are both complete and cool and he has a westinghouse BV56 that is complete and cools. He wants $1400 for all. I just don't have the money. If anyone wants one let me know as I would be willing to split them. Do you all think they are worth it?
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on March 31, 2005, 02:27:02 am
Dr., Very cool! Congrats! If only I liked pepsi stuff, but I am a Coke only guy. But very nice. I'm still hunting. Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on March 31, 2005, 07:52:02 am Josh
did you look at the two Vendo 110's? Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: loman4ec on March 31, 2005, 10:56:47 am No I haven't. He is about an hour and a half away so if I go I want to at least come home with one. I know that the coin op 110 is worth it but I just don't know about the 6 case and the westinghouse BV56. I would be buying these for resale so I just don't want to get burned. But if anyone here might want one I don't want to make any profit on these from any of you. He really wants to sell them as a whole and said that he will raise the price if I didn't take them all. I kind of like the looks of the ugly bv56. They are so ugly but that is what I like about it. He says that all of the machines are complete as far as he can tell and they all work. All three of the machines are rust free but could use paint. What should I do???
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: glassbottlesrule on March 31, 2005, 04:51:24 pm I think that Westinghouse is cool machine that will only go up in value. Doesn't sould like too bad of a deal to me Josh although 100-1200 would be alot easier to swallow.
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: loman4ec on April 01, 2005, 01:10:30 pm bump
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: MoonDawg on April 01, 2005, 03:11:22 pm Wait a few weeks and the guy will cut his price in half. Even then, these are not easy machines to re-sell, so there's not a large return on investment.
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on April 01, 2005, 05:50:26 pm Hey
I may be interested in buying the V110 & the 6 case if I could just give them a quick service upgrade ( fan motors. t-stat & coil cleaning) & then resell them. The last one I bought is going to be a training machine plus the repainting. We have the shipping issue down pat. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: loman4ec on April 01, 2005, 06:06:46 pm Kevin that would work out great for me since the machine that I want is the westinghouse. I like it because it is so ugly. I don't care to make any profit off of the transaction but I don't think the guy will budge much on his price. What would you be willing to pay? Of course depending on condition.
Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on April 06, 2005, 05:56:16 am Hello
Here is the picture of the Vendo 83 that I received a call on. The problem is the machine is in Virgina so I would have to pay for shipping to SC. I offered 250 & was turned down. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on April 06, 2005, 05:57:06 am Hello
Inside Vendo 83 Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on April 06, 2005, 08:16:38 am Hello
I tried to do this very fast at 630 am prior to leaving for work. I will rescan the pictures & post color pictures tonight. The bottom line is that this machine appears to be in pretty good shape but has not been plugged in for a number of years. The owner of the machine was told that it was worth $ 3000 if restored. I politely offered $250 & passed on going higher. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on April 06, 2005, 08:43:26 am The V-83s are never worth 3000 $. They are nice machines but they only vend small bottles and they are very heavy.
If you have to pay shipping, I think this machine will be to expensive. Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on April 06, 2005, 08:46:48 am I think you made the right choice. I don't believe the $3,000 line.
Some have been on eBay lately and haven't sold for even $399.00 (though that one is missing some stuff.) I got lucky and got one on ebay a few weeks ago for just $61.00, but it is missing some chrome and needs a new paint job and is in the middle of nowhere (I have another LONG drive ahead of me). That one looks very nice, but you were smart to stop wen you did. This model is big, very heavy and (unlike the 39) the drum can only hold single flavor 6.5/8 oz. bottles. All of those restrictions add up to a machine that is not as sought after as others. From your one picture, it looks like it may have a dent by the lock on the left-hand side. But PLEASE do post more photos, I'd love to see them. Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on April 06, 2005, 07:02:21 pm Hello

Here are the piss poor pictures of the Cavalier 51. This guy had so much stuff piled into a garage I could not get a picture of the front of the machine. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Kevin C on April 06, 2005, 08:00:09 pm Hello

Heck I would have bought it just to get the junk off the top of it!!! Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: on April 06, 2005, 10:36:07 pm Thanks for the color photos! I could look a photos of people's soda machines all day every day.

No I did not make an offer on the C51. the fellow wanted 750 for it & I was taking heat at home. I thought it was is pretty good shape but I did not really want a machine that would only take small bottles. I just want to buy the slant shelf vending machines. Kevin Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: Bob K on April 07, 2005, 12:31:40 pm Slant-shelf machines aren't the only square-tops able vend different size bottles. The Westinghouse Multidrinks have adjustable chutes to fit different sizes also.
Bob Title: Play the what is it game. Post by: BrianB on April 07, 2005, 01:06:57 pm Just to echo what Bob said, there are other Square Tops that still kinda retain that vintage look and still vend various sizes and shapes. I tend to call these machines "transition" models. My Cavalier 55D(s) vends everything from the 6 1/2 oz bottles all the way to 12 oz cans! Of course that only when it all put back together!
