Title: New purchase -Lehigh Foundries Cigarette Vending Machine.. Help.
Post by: davethebirdman on August 13, 2015, 03:09:49 pm
Hello Chaps.

I bought this old girl on eBay a few weeks ago and managed to pick it up today. There is no makers plate etc and having done some internet research I have drawn a blank on the maker.

Its in nice condition apart from a few dents in the door where its been forced open. however its missing the complete coin mech.

Can anyone shed any light on this machine and i know its a very longshot but i don't suppose anyone has the missing coin mech for sale???

Dave

Just looked at that plate again and it actually says "Lehigh foundries" Easton PA. Don't know how I missed it.

Anybody have a coin mech for this machine at all?

Unfortunately, I do not have a coin mech for the machine.
Congrats on the purchase though ! ! !

GP - I went to bed last night thinking, what the bloody hell is he speaking about I can't see anything. With some sleep I can now see the etchings in the mirror. (very good)

Leonard - will take the mech out today and take some pictures...

dave,

thats a great machine & its found right home now

shows there are still a few original US machines still

around in England today,

you deserve to get sorted on the coin mech for taking

it on, so hopefully someone can sort you out on that.

be interesting to see that finished, next to one of your

nationals.

Hi Eric

Have had a quick look at the space left behind by the removal of the coin mech and its substantially larger than that of a National cigarette machine.
I was actually thinking that it would have a National Rejector incorporated within it.

Not sure when they started using National Rejectors. My understanding from the limited research I have done (thanks to GP) is that this machine is a 1940's model.

Have enclosed a quick picture, tomorrow when I get the chance I'll remove the mechanism from the cabinet and take a better picture, side on. If possible could you please
measure the size.

It is potentially promising.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,
Looking somewhat like Canteen on the mech. Hard to tell.

Hi Guys

Managed to get the whole mech out of the cabinet and take a sideways picture of where the coin mech used to be. Seemed it was quite substantial.

I also found some bits in the bottom. One piece looks like the front cover of the coin mech and the other is the shute to catch the coin.

Eric - Not sure if yours is suitable for mine now that I have managed to get it out.

dave,

if and only if you draw a blank on the forum

is there an option to maybe get in touch with a lehigh council or similar

there must be some people involved in company history that may be able

provide retired employees or old sales literature to maybe assist you......

long shot
