Title: old photo vendo milk machine in england UK Post by: aristocrat on August 12, 2015, 09:46:47 am hi everyone
whilst trawling the web today found an image not seen before have kept it for my library but thought would share it here too when i was a kid healds delivered to your door in bottles milk and orange too i moved away but am now back living about a mile from their old bottling plant which was demolished for new housing in the 90's. the healds didsbury was the operator, however above that is another label which i found even more interesting as i am aware of there name Sankey Sheldon but had no idea that they were manifacturing or assembling vendo machines over here in UK in the sixties? i am aware of sankey sheldon from their manufacture of other metal items in the 50s and 60's namely metal [tanker style] desks and filing cabinets, however knew nothing of any vendo connection.... i did trawl sankey history and there was a lot of it but all i saw was a diversification into vending with a sub division but no mention of any vendo collaboration. from the label it looks like sankey were making them? but was that manufacturing or assembly of vendo parts or just a distributor of imported machines did vendo have any other similar setups or did they just ship machines to a distributor anyway heres the pix going to get a print of this and get framed for the cellar i think Title: Re: old photo vendo milk machine in england UK Post by: MoonDawg on August 12, 2015, 09:54:23 am :needphotos:

i have an 81d in the kitchen and it didnt even cross my mind that the coin entry bezel would be any different to standard vendo 81d bezel. i just presumed that sankeys would have either assembled 81 parts in england or maybe at best made the outer cabinet in england using vendo tooling maybe or their own tooling using vendo specifications and then just bought in all the smaller parts from vendo us and assembled them onto the new home produced cabinets. but as you say the coin entry is completely different layout and the x3 selection casting frame is different too............. do you actually think they are wider or just look wider due to way the bits are laid out EG on us milk machines coin entry and selection are same width as each other and UK version are the same as each other in width but obviously different in design to US... the x6d light up glass or perspex is very close to x10c but not sure what kind of coin mech this would have housed anyway. but all that seems to follow the line that sankey did actiually make eg manufacture the whole machine under licence.......? also on 240v not 110v now vendo machines are very very rare in england and it would probably be 100 times easier finding an rc81 in the states than to find one of these sankey made machines over here in UK. i have only seen pix of sankey massive milk machines so maybe they only made that option here in UK i will try to find more info on them GP Title: Re: old photo vendo milk machine in england UK Post by: aristocrat on August 13, 2015, 02:16:48 am well heres more pix of actual machine
they do look longer on these pix so think you were/are correct on that creighton. also noted the vendo stamp on bottom right of front door so have no idea what sankey actually made/assembled/retooled GP Title: Re: old photo vendo milk machine in england UK Post by: coke_and_stuff on August 13, 2015, 12:41:51 pm The coin door itself is wider on this machine than others that I've seen.
